BJP should not create sense of disbelief on army

New Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): Congress Spokesperson Bhakta Charan Das on Friday slammed the BJP for tarnishing the image of the Indian army in order to gain political mileage. Das said that the army has always done a commendable work and the BJP should not create a sense of disbelief among the people of the country for the Indian army. Media reports have claimed that General V K Singh had set up a special unit in the army which tried to topple the Jammu and Kashmir Government. The report also claimed that a secret Board of Officers inquiry has recommended that the CBI look into the matter. Media report also claimed that the unit set up by General V K Singh called the Technical Services Division (TSD), a part of Military Intelligence, tried to block General Bikram Singh's promotion. The reports said that the recommendation has been examined by the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Defence.

VK Singh in govt dock for sharing dais with Narendra Modi: BJP

New Delhi, Sept 20 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday claimed that former chief of army staff General VK Singh is being targeted by the UPA Government for sharing the dais with BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at a recent rally in Rewari, Haryana. BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said that the defence ministry's decision to order a probe against General (retired) VK. Singh in connection with a media-based report that he had allegedly ordered a technical unit of the army to unseat the Jammu and Kashmir Government when he was in office, was completely unjustified.

Chennai doctor becomes first in country to use Google Glass to air operation live

Chennai, Sept 20 (ANI): A doctor in Chennai became the first Indian to perform a surgery wearing the Google glass as he live streamed an upper gastro-intestinal laparoscopy procedure on a 45-year-old man to medical students seated two blocks away. Google Glass has a frame similar to the traditional spectacles but is actually a wearable computer that follows voice commands. It can take photos and videos to show the viewpoint of the user. Chief surgeon JS Rajkumar, who wore the latest gadget in the operation theatre, performed a medical procedure to repair the patient___s simple hernia with his team of doctors on September 17. In all praise for Google___s latest gizmo, Rajkumar said on Friday that the glasses helped him in transmitting the data of the surgery to students, other doctors and mediapersons.

Rasheed Masood found guilty in MBBS seat allocation case

New Delhi, Sept 20 (ANI): A Special CBI court has held Rajya Sabha member Rasheed Masood guilty in a case of corruption and other offences. Masood, Minister of Health in the VP Singh government between 1990 and 1991, was held guilty of fraudulently nominating undeserving candidates to MBBS seats allotted to Tripura in medical colleges across the country from the central pool. Masood's conviction is the first case after the July 10 Supreme Court judgment that struck down sub-section 4 of Section 8 of Representation of the People, RP Act, under which incumbent MPs and MLAs can avoid disqualification till pendency of the appeal against conviction in a higher court.

Maoists kill one policeman of patrolling party in Bihar

Jamui, Sept 20 (ANI): Maoists killed one policeman of a patrolling party, which was on its way to probe the attack by the rebels on an under construction paramilitary force camp in Bihar. It is first time that India has won two medals in the men's events at the World Championships level. Tata group plans new air carrier in alliance with Singapore Airlines

New Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): Singapore Airlines Ltd and Tata group, owner of the Jaguar and Land Rover brands, have entered into a pact to set up a new full-service airline in India and also have sought approval for this tie-up to function from New Delhi. India___s Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh clarified this while interacting with the media persons in the national capital. Tata Sons said it will own 51 percent of the carrier and Singapore Airlines will own the remainder. On its part, Singapore Airlines said the initial outlay of $100 million would be funded by the two sides in proportion to their ownership.
