New Delhi, Sep 21 (ANI): As former Army Chief General VK Singh on Saturday said that the reports against him are politically motivated and laughable, CPI (M) leader Atul Anjan said that VK Singh has a habit of being in controversies and in the headlines by giving baseless statements. He further said that there should be a CBI investigation for this report and that all such high officials should not be allowed to take part in politics for 10 years after their retirement.

PM lays foundation stone of Kishangarh airport in Ajmer

Kishangarh, Sep 21 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday laid the foundation stone of the Kishangarh Airport in Ajmer district of Rajasthan. Singh, hailed the efforts made by the civil aviation ministry for developing airport networks with an aim to connect small cities by air. He further added that the priority of the central government is to develop the basic layout of the airports. Singh also said that there was a need to develop airports with an aim to meet the increasing needs of air traffic.

Bangladesh's Ganajagaran Mancha hails death sentence of war criminal

Dhaka, Sep 21 (ANI): Bangladesh's Ganajagaran Mancha has hailed the verdict of the Supreme Court sentencing a Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah to death for war crimes, overturning a life sentence imposed by a tribunal. Bangladesh Journalist, Shahriar Kabir, said that the verdict was the victory of the victims of the war. The war crimes tribunal back in February found Mollah, assistant secretary general of the outlawed Jamaat-e-Islami party, guilty of murder, rape and torture during the 1971 war of independence from Pakistan. The life sentence imposed at the time triggered protests by people hoping he would get the death penalty. In response, parliament amended a law to allow the state to appeal against any verdict or sentence passed by the tribunal.

Muzaffarnagar riots: BJP MLA Suresh Rana sent to 14-day judicial custody

Muzaffarnagar, Sep 21 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Thana Bhavan, Suresh Rana has been sent to 14-day judicial custody on Saturday. Rana, accused of inciting communal violence through inflammatory speeches in Muzaffarnagar, was arrested by the UP police on Friday.
