Student union demands governors rule in Guwahati

Guwahati, May 28 (ANI): The All Bodoland Minority Students Union (ABMSU) in Assam state took to streets and demanded governor's rule in the areas hit by violence between indigenous tribesmen and settlers, which left 47 people dead and tens of thousands homeless. Around 31 Muslims were gunned down in three days of what police said were attacks by tribal militants who resent the presence of immigrants from neighbouring Bangladesh. President of the students union, Sahabuddil Ali Ahmed, urged Assam as well as the central government to seize illegal arms in Bodoland Territorial Areas District (BTAD) areas. May 28, 2014

South Waziristan, May 28 (ANI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, Imran Khan has appealed to the country’s army chief not to carry out any military operation in Waziristan and to revive peace talks with the Taliban . Last week, Pakistani forces launched rare air strikes against Taliban militants holed up in the remote, tribal belt near the Afghan border after several rounds of government-led talks aimed at ending an insurgency in the remote region failed. Although the government has said no decision for a full scale military operation in North Waziristan has been taken, on May 22, the military backed that up with the first major ground offensive against the Taliban. Amway India chief's bail plea hearing today

Kurnool, May 28 (ANI): A Kurnool district court will hear the bail petition of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the direct selling company, Amway India, William S Pinckney today. The Andhra Pradesh police had arrested Pinckney from Gurgaon on Monday for alleged cheating and embezzlement of funds. He has been remanded to jail in Kurnool town of Andhra Pradesh till June 07. This is the second time Pinckney has been arrested. He was arrested by the Kerala police last year along with two company directors for alleged financial irregularities. May 28, 2014

New Delhi, May 28 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party chief, Arvind Kejriwal, was released on Tuesday after he submitted personal bail bond in the defamation case, filed by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari. Gadkari, had filed a defamation case on February 18, after Kejriwal called him as one of the most corrupt leaders in his list of 'India's most corrupt'. AAP leader, Harvinder Singh Phoolka, said the court issued a notice and asked Kejriwal to come out of jail, which he agreed and signed the personal bond till July 31. Earlier, a New Delhi court had ordered judicial custody for Kejriwal on May 21 after he refused to furnish the bond of Rs. 10,000 in the defamation case. May 28, 2014
