Rapes not happening only in one state: Dimple Yadav

New Delhi, June 05 (ANI): Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's daughter-in-law and Lok Sabha Member Dimple Yadav on Thursday said the issue of women safety should be taken very seriously, and added that rapes are not just happening in only one state. She also said that the SP government is strict about such sensitive issues and are working towards the same.

Politicos react over murder incident in Deoria

New Delhi/ Kanpur, June 05 (ANI): Adding yet another crime in Uttar Pradesh after Badaun Gang-rape incident, a newly wed couple was found hanging to death on a tree in Pipra village in Deoria. Politicos condemned the incident and blamed the law and order situation in the state under Akhilesh Government. Apna Dal leader Anupriya Patel said that such crimes are increasing because law is deteriorating in UP. BJP leader Siddharth Nath stated that lawlessness is increasing in UP. CPI leader Atul Anjan said that Akhilesh Yadav should reform his Cabinet in UP. CPI (M) leader Subhashini Ali stated that due to increasing crimes in UP, a state of fear is raging through the residents.

India rallies for green cities on World Environment Day

Bhopal / Varanasi / Kolkata, June 05 (ANI): Indians paddled, skated and walked to spread the message of greener and cleaner surroundings to mark World Environment Day on Thursday. People, especially children, rallied across cities advocating protection of environment. In Bhopal, the national museum of humankind in association with Green Planet Bicycle Riders Association organised a cycle rally to promote environmental awareness among individuals and vouched for usage of non-motorised vehicles. Meanwhile, children in temple town of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh also raised their voice for clean city. Dressed in green attires, kids skated for saving the environment, holding banners and shouting slogans. The city of Kolkata in West Bengal state too witnessed an awareness rally that advocated for plastic-free country.

BJD confirms BJP'S proposal of Sumitra Mahajan as next LS speaker

Kiran Bedi slams UP govt for gang rape cases reported in state

New Delhi, June 05 (ANI): Former IPS officer and Social Activist Kiran Bedi on Thursday slammed UP government for the ongoing rape cases reported in the state and said that the state government is not even accepting their mistake. Bedi also said that SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav instead of being harsh on criminals is being soft on them and is saying that 'boys will be boys'. She also said that women rights are part of human rights for the safety of which UP government is non functional.

Customers head towards jewellery shops in Jaipur as gold nears four-month low

Jaipur, June 05 (ANI): Prices of gold in India touched rupees 26, 639 per 10 grams on Thursday, the lowest since February, attracting a sizeable number of people who wanted to invest in the precious metal. People in Jaipur rushed to buy gold which is expected to fall even further to rupees 25, 000 rupees in the next few days. Traders and jewellers have seen a rise in the number of customers in the last few days as people flocked to take advantage of low prices. Though this trend of the slash in gold prices is global, the recent reduction in import duty by the Indian government has also aided the fall in prices of the commodity.

Modi's decision to talk in Hindi language with foreign leaders gets welcoming reactions

Reactions flow in as UN and US condemn Badaun gang-rape

New Delhi, June 05 (ANI): Reactions flow in after the United Nations (UN) condemned the gruesome gang-rape and murder of two teenage sisters in Badaun and made an appeal for justice for the victims. 16th Lok Sabha Session: Ministers take oath as Members of Parliament - Part - 3

New Delhi, June 05 (ANI): The second day of the 16th Lok Sabha began on Thursday with the oath taking ceremony of all Members of Parliament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to take oath as the member of Lok Sabha and asked to take his oath by the Lok Sabha's Pro-Tem Speaker, Kamla Nath. He was then followed by senior BJP leader L.K.Advani and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who also took their oath of allegiance in Hindi like Modi. Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh also took his oath and swore to abide by the Constitution. Some other ministers also took oath as the Members of Parliament including PA Sangma, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari, HD Deve Gowda, Uma Bharti, Ram Vilas Paswan, Maneka Gandhi, Ananth Kumar, Harsimrat Kaur, Harsh Vardhan, and Gen (Retd) VK Singh.
