FIFA officials visit Kolkata to inspect venue for under-17 Football World Cup

Kolkata, March 01 (ANI): FIFA officials visited the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata to inspect the venue for the under-17 Football World Cup. In a press conference in Kolkata, FIFA delegation chief, Inaki Alvarez, said the purpose of the team’s visit was to carefully survey the facilities to be provided to the players. Expressing his satisfaction with the Salt Lake Stadium, he further said that the stadium has all the space required. The visit to the Salt Lake Stadium makes it the eighth venue in India inspected by a FIFA team so far. Guwahati, March 01 (ANI): Political leaders and activists welcomed the move by central government to constitute an expert committee to examine the demand for a separate Bodoland state from Assam, days after the Parliament passed the bill for the creation of a new Telangana state. The one-man expert committee was set up on Thursday, which would submit its report in nine months after consulting every section of the society on the creation and validity of Bodoland. New Delhi, March 01 (ANI): Union Rural Development Minister, Jairam Ramesh, announced in New Delhi that the central government will improve the already existing welfare schemes and launch new programmes to benefit people living in tribal areas. Ramesh announced a number of measures while addressing a news conference. The most important announcement was the provision of 150 days of guaranteed employment to people living in tribal areas, as part of the government’s flagship welfare scheme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
