Kashmir shuts down in remembrance of 1931 uprising against monarchy

Srinagar, July 13 (ANI): Kashmir on Sunday observed a shutdown to observe the anniversary of July 13, 1931- a major uprising against the Dogra monarchy. Separatist Hurriyat Conference leaders called for strike in a bid to pay homage to the 22 Kashmiri youth who were killed on that day, which is also observed as a state holiday. All shops, business establishments, educational institutions, government offices were closed as market wore a deserted look. Armed security personnel were seen patrolling on the street of Srinagar. New Delhi, July 13 (ANI): A delegation of National Federation of Indian Women headed by General Secretary Annie Raja met Home Minister Rajnath Singh over the issue of women trafficking in parts of country. She said that the research team visited districts of Bihar and Jharkhand and found cases of missing women in majority of homes. Israeli troops responded with stun grenades, tear gas and live fire. In Hebron, seven Palestinians were injured from live fire. Another 20 were injured by rubber bullets. Kochi, July 13 (ANI): Another batch of 29 Indian nurses, who were caught up fighting in Iraq, arrived home in Kochi city of Kerala and were welcomed by their family members at the airport. The nurses were working in four different hospitals in and around places of Diyala. The nurses had been worried as the hospital authorities were not returning their passports but they got it later after government's intervention.
