AAP leader Manish Sisodia meets LG over political uncertainty in Delhi

New Delhi, July 21 (ANI): AAP leader Manish Sisodia met LG Najeeb Jung on Monday aimed at putting an end to the political uncertainty prevailing in the city. Kejriwal, is also likely to meet Jung today along with his 25 MLAs to ask the latter for a withdrawal of President_s rule from the capital by convincing Jung to dissolve the assembly and call for fresh polls. This comes on the backdrop of AAP accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of running away from fresh elections after the BJP state unit said the central leadership would take a final decision and was open to all three options-fresh elections, staking claim to government formation and extending President_s rule.

Kiren Rijiju on north-east student beaten to death in New Delhi

New Delhi, July 21 (ANI): Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Monday said that he will be visiting the spot where the north-eastern student was beaten to death in New Delhi_s Hauz Khas area. Rijiju added that he will be ordering careful investigation in the case and the circumstances that lead to it. A north-eastern student was beaten to death in New Delhi_s Hauz Khas area on Monday by unknown people.

Wall collapse in Bhopal kills two

Bhopal, July 21 (ANI): Police said on Monday two people have died after an extended wall of a guest house collapsed in Bhopal city of Madhya Pradesh. The administration began operations to clear the debris after the extended wall of a VIP guest house collapsed early in the morning. The injured were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital. Superintendent of Police, north Bhopal, Arvind Saxena, said the injured were out of danger.

Family of woman murdered brutally in Lucknow demands CBI probe

Deoria, July 21 (ANI): Family of a 32-year-old woman, who was found dead with grisly wounds in her private parts in Lucknow defied police report that said there were no traces of rape before murder, and demanded CBI probe. The victim_s mutilated body was found in a school in Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow on Friday. Earlier it was speculated the woman was gang-raped before the murder, due to multiple injuries and stab wounds, but police on Sunday claimed there was only one accused involved in the crime and his attempt to rape before killing had failed. However, the family which is angry over government_s insensitive approach challenged the report and demanded justice for the woman_s children by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Discussion on Gaza violence to be held in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, July 21 (ANI): The Rajya Sabha on Monday will have a short-duration discussion on violence in Gaza, where hundreds of people having lost their lives. Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari last week turned down government_s request to drop the discussion on the violence in Gaza. A strident opposition led by the Congress and the Left parties on Friday reportedly stalled proceedings in Rajya Sabha during Question Hour demanding immediate discussion on killings of innocent women and children in Gaza. The BJP-led NDA government was placed in a tight spot over its reluctance to hold a discussion on the issue even after the motion was admitted by the presiding officer. The government finally agreed to discuss it today.

Police recover 43 illicit weapons, arrest five in New Delhi

New Delhi, July 21 (ANI): The police recovered 43 illicit weapons in New Delhi and arrested five men in the year-long search operation. While addressing a news conference Special Commissioner of Police New Delhi, SN Srivastava, said such illicit weapons were abused by the criminals. Speaking about the recovery, Srivastava said there were two operations and total five criminals were arrested.

Police to present arrested accused in sexual assault of minor in Bangalore before Court

Bangalore, July 21 (ANI): Police in Bangalore city of Karnataka arrested one accused in the sexual assault of a six-year-old school girl which will be produced before court on Monday. The accused, Mustafa alias Munna, who is in his early 30s, was working as a skating instructor in the school since 2011. A native of eastern province of Bihar, he had been staying in Bangalore for more than 20 years. Addressing the mediapersons at a news conference, Commissioner of Police, Raghavendra Auradkar, said Mustafa_s laptop and mobile have been seized.

Indian Army defuses two live mortar shells in Kashmir

RS Pura, July 21 (ANI): Indian Army defused two live mortar shells in a village in R.S. Pura sector in Jammu city of Jammu and Kashmir. The explosives were recovered following the cross-border firing which started on July 16 when Pakistani side targeted an Indian post in RS Pura sector in which a soldier died and three others were injured. The Army_s Bomb Disposal Squad reached the site to defuse the shells.

Kids paint myriad hues of Ramadan in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 21 (ANI): Children in Jammu and Kashmir drew and painted their imaginations during a painting competition-cum-exhibition during the holy month of Ramadan. The event was organised especially for children, to know what they think about Islam and Ramadan and also to explore their creative side. The two-day event was held in Srinagar to know perspective of young generation. Participants made mosques, burqa-clad Muslim women, colourful sceneries, etc and came out with brilliant pieces of paintings. Israel expands ground offensive in Gaza, kills at least 40 Palestinians

Gaza, July 20 (ANI): At least 40 Palestinians were killed on Sunday by Israeli shelling in a Gaza neighbourhood, where bodies were strewn in the street and thousands fled toward a hospital packed with wounded, health officials said. The mass casualties in the Shejaia district in northeast Gaza were the heaviest since Israel launched its offensive on the Palestinian territory on July 8 after cross-border rocket strikes by militants intensified. There were no signs of a diplomatic breakthrough towards a ceasefire, and militants kept up their rocket fire on Israel.

Patna police seizes money and jwellery stolen from Sadhu Yadav's house

Patna, July 20 (ANI): A sum of Rs 39 lakh and other valuables stolen from former RJD MP Sadhu Yadav's house last month have been recovered and three persons arrested in the case, Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said on Sunday. During interrogation, Kundan Kumar Sah had confessed about his role in the burglary at the residence of RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's brother-in-law on June 12. Sah's two accomplices - Santosh Kumar and Vikash Kumar - were also arrested from various parts of the state capital and parts of booty recovered from their places too.

FIR filed against Alka Lamba for sharing Lucknow rape victim's picture online

Lucknow, July 20 (ANI): An FIR has been filed against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Alka Lamba for allegedly sharing the picture of the Lucknow rape victim, who was brutally raped and stabbed to death, on a social networking site. Complainant Rakesh Singh said that this should be included in cyber crime and demanded arrest of Lamba. The victim was brutally raped and her body was found in Mohanlalganj area, barely 8 km from Jabrauli village where former US President Bill Clinton had paid a visit.
