China's first lady Peng Liyuan visits Tagore International School in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 18 (ANI): The first lady of China, Peng Liyuan on Thursday visited Tagore International School, in Vasant Vihar area of Delhi and witnessed various cultural programmes performed by the school students. The Chinese President's wife was visibly delighted to witness the cultural acts performed by the students showcasing various dance and art forms, highlighting the cultural ethos of India. Later, she left her impression by scripting a message for students in Chinese calligraphy. Earlier today, she visited Rajghat along with her husband Xi Jinping where they both paid homage at the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi.

Voting underway in Scotland to decide the nation's independence from UK

Edinburgh, Sep 18 (ANI): Both excitement and anxiety are mounting as voting in Scotland is underway in referendum to determine whether to break away from the United Kingdom and become independent. As polls open in Scotland, most opinion polls and experts say it is a vote too tight to predict. More than 4.2 million people are registered to vote in the country of 5.3 million people, including, for the first time, 16 and 17 year olds. Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron gave the go ahead for the referendum two years ago, in what was called the "Edinburgh Agreement", when it was assumed a "No" vote was a safe bet.

Prashant Bhushan refuses to reveal whistleblower's name to SC in Ranjit Sinha's case

New Delhi, Sep 18 (ANI): Lawyer Prashant Bhushan on Thursday said that the Supreme Court had asked him to reveal the whistleblower's name in case against CBI Chief Ranjit Sinha, to which he refused to do so. Bhushan said that in a meeting of Centre of Public Interest Litigation, it was decided that the whistleblower's name shall not be revealed citing danger to his life as also seen in previous cases. The Court had asked Bhushan to disclose the name of the whistleblower that had passed information regarding the file book of CBI on basis of which the case was filed.

Sushil Modi stands firm on his remark on Yogi Adityanath

New Delhi, Sept 18 (ANI): Senior Bihar BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday remained firm on his remark on BJP leader Yogi Adityanath. Sushil Modi had reiterated the party line on "love jihad" but nuanced it - distancing the state unit from the Yogi Adityanath-style of rhetoric and promising to give "a good number" of tickets to Muslims in next year's Assembly elections. He said that if Yogi Adityanath spoke in Bihar like he did in UP, they would have contradicted him. Talking to mediapersons in Delhi, he said that if central leadership says anything that is the voice of the party but if any particular leader says anything that is not the voice of the party. He said that he doesn't support Yogi Adityanath's statement. Adityanath was recently seen in a video saying that Hindu boys should marry Muslim girls and later convert them.

Politicos react as Shah claims Sardar Patel 'would not have let J & K split

New Delhi, Sep 18 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Thursday after BJP Chief Amit Shah said that Jammu and Kashmir would have not split and Article 370 of the constitution not existed had Sardar Vallabbhai Patel handled the issue of J&K instead of Jawaharlal Nehru. BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said there was some deficiency in Nehru's governance and hence Kashmir is suffering today. NCP leaders Majid Memon said that Shah was not present at the time of independence hence he shouldn't comment on the situation. NCP leader Tariq Anwar and CPI leader D Raja said that Shah's comment lacks historical resonance. CPI leader Atul Anjan said that J & K is in crisis due to floods and it's not the right time to start new politics.

Tibetan exiles protest against Xi Jinping in New Delhi, protesters detained

New Delhi, Sep 18 (ANI): Tibetan activists, on Thursday (September 18), protested against Chinese President Xi Jinping's India visit in New Delhi and accused him of killings in Tibet. Tibetan exiles shouted anti-China slogans, carrying banners demanding 'Free Tibet'. A protester scaled a light pole near Dhaula Kuan area of the Indian capital and waved banner against the Chinese President. Protesters said they are not against Jinping, but protesting for their own people. The agitated protesters protesting outside Hyderabad House, where delegation level talks between PM Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are underway, were later detained by the police. A scuffle also took place between police and media persons.

Hema Malini says widows from other states should not crowd Mathura, faces flak
