Northeastern states promote tourism and crafts at IITF-2014 in New Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 07 (ANI): Tourism and industrial promotion was the focus of Assam pavilion at the 34th India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. In tandem with the theme – 'Women Entrepreneurship', the Assam Pavilion showcased various entrepreneurial activities of the women of Assam and highlighted the contributions of those who have made a special mark in their respective fields. The various products put up on display at the Fair were Assam Tea, handloom products, Assamese jewellery, bamboo and cane products and ethnic foot items, most of which are led by women entrepreneurs. A large number of crafts persons and entrepreneurs from other northeastern states like Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya also participated in the fair. Around 20 exhibitors from Nagaland showcased a variety of products like handloom, traditional jewellery, artificial flowers, cultural artifact and decorative items. Dec 7, 2014

New Delhi, Dec 6 (ANI): Security experts on Saturday reacting over the multiple militant attacks in Kashmir said that the attacks were anticipated and the country needs more preparedness. Security expert Uday Bhaskar said that though there had been similar attacks, the ones on Friday were of higher intensity. Ranchi, Dec 6 (ANI): Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that the threats of militant attacks loom large over Kashmir as BJP came to power, while the valley was peaceful during the Congress rule. While addressing a rally in Ranchi, Gandhi blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for continued terror activities in Kashmir where militants launched four terror attacks on Friday leaving 11 security personnel including a lieutenant colonel dead and killing two civilians. Blast outside DAV College in Roorkee, 1 dead

Roorkee, Dec 6 (ANI): One child is reported to be dead after an explosion took place near DAV College in Roorkee city of Uttarakhand. According to the reports, the blast took palce at a garbage dump. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat appealed the people to maintain calm and cooperate with the police in the investigation. Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag pays tribute to martyrs in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 6 (ANI): Indian Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag on Saturday paid tribute to martyrs who lost their lives in militant attacks that took place in Jammu and Kashmir. Suhag is also scheduled to take stock of the security situation in the state that was hit by terror attacks claiming the lives of 11 security personnel including a Lt Colonel. The Army Chief offered floral wreath to the martyrs and the Army personnel held the wreath laying ceremony in respect of the late jawans. Suhag's visit comes a day after the attacks and gun battles with security forces in Kashmir valley 21 people died in the attacks, including a top commander of Pakistan-based terror outfit LeT and seven militants. Ayodhya/Chennai, Dec 6 (ANI): Muslims on Saturday protested in demand for the reconstruction of the Babri Masjid on the 22nd anniversary of the mosque demolition, an incident that had triggered communal riots in the country. The 1992 demolition of the 16th century mosque in Ayodhya by Hindu mobs had triggered worst riots in which about 2,000 people were killed. Many Hindu organisations, especially Vishwa Hindu Parishad, observe it as a day of victory while Muslim organisations call it a black day. A protester, Maulana Jameer, demanded that the government should rebuild the demolished mosque. Meanwhile in Chennai, a non government Muslim organization, Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) staged a protest with thousands of Muslims participating in it. Dec 6, 2014
