Church in Vasant Kunj area vandalized by miscreants

New Delhi, Feb 02 (ANI): In yet another case of vandalism being directed towards the Christian community of the national capital, a church in the Vasant Kunj area of the city was ravaged by unknown persons, just five days ahead of the assembly elections in Delhi. According to reports, prayer items in St Alphonsa's church had been thrown around by the vandals. This is the fourth attack on a church in the national capital since December.

Sadhvi Prachi enters into yet another controversy, says, "I just said to have only 4 kids & not 35-40"

Badaun, Feb 02 (ANI): BJP leader Sadhvi Prachi caught herself in yet another controversy while speaking in front of her followers in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. Stating her statement wherein she asked Hindu women to have at least 4 kids as right, she said that there was nothing wrong in it. Prachi said that she only said to have 4 kids and not 35-40 puppies. She said that people who marry Hindu girls for money are spreading Love Jihad and should be stopped. Further, calling India a Hindu nation, she said that names like Tughlakh, Musarraf, etc. were nowhere 1400 years back and that India was 'Hindustan'.

Sushma Swaraj meets Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov

Beijing, Feb 02 (ANI): Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday met her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov while on her four-day visit to China. The two leaders held talks on bilateral and multilateral issues. The meeting was held in the sidelines of the 13th Foreign Ministers' Meeting of Russia-India-China Trilateral, which Swaraj will be attending later. The minister is accompanied by new Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruiddin among other senior ministry officials. Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping has made an exception by agreeing to meet Swaraj on Monday breaking the protocol.

China opens additional route to Kailash-Mansarovar in Tibet: MEA

Beijing, Feb 02 (ANI): China agreed to open an additional route to Hindu pilgrimage in Tibet through Nathu La pass, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin during Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj visit to Beijing. Akbaruddin said devotees could undertake more comfortable journey by vans and busses to Kailash-Mansarovar, where Lord Shiva is believed to be residing in perpetual meditation state along with his wife Parvati. Swaraj and her Chinese counterpart decided to set up a contact group to discuss the modalities of Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit to Beijing later this year. Swarajs trip comes just days after US President Barack Obama's unprecedented second visit to India that concluded with nuclear deal and defence co-operation between the two countries that evoked considerable concern from China.

Pakistani Shi'ites protest against Shikarpur mosque blast that killed at least 49 people

Islamabad, Feb 02 (ANI): Dozens of Shi'ite held rallies in Pakistani capital Islamabad to condemn mosque bombing in Shikarpur that killed at least 49 worshippers and injured dozens of others on Friday. Thousands of mourners in Shikarpur city on Saturday held a mass funeral for victims of the bomb blast in a Shi'ite mosque. The blast occurred during Friday prayers. The Islamabad protesters held banners and placards denouncing the bombing and demanding the perpetrators to be hanged publicly. At another protest in Islamabad by ex-graduates of Quaid-e-Azam University, the protesters demanded the government provide quick justice to the families of the victims. Meanwhile, Pakistan's information minister offered condolences with the bereave families and reiterated government's vow to root out terrorism from the country.

Kejriwal hurt over BJP's advertisement targeting 'Aggarwal community', says will complain to EC

Kaushambi, Feb 02 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday reacted over yet another BJPs advertisement and said that he will complain to the Election Commission over the same. Kejriwal said that the BJP should say things to him and not others. He said that the party should apologise from the entire Aggarwal community for mocking them. He also said that the people of Delhi will give them a befitting reply on the day of voting. Goa police arrest Italian national, recover drug worth millions

Panaji, Feb 02 (ANI): Anti-narcotics cell of police in Goa arrested a 54-year-old Italian national and recovered drug worth one hundred million from him. Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted in Anjuna beach area during which accused Vincenzo Rainone was caught red-handed. Later his house was searched where police found 30,000 LSD papers (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) and liquid LSD. This is one of the major seizures of LSD papers by the Goa police. The accused had been visiting Goa on business and tourist visas since last 14 years. Rainone will be produced before court for police remand.

Speeding bus mows down three people in Andhra Pradesh

East Godavari, Feb 02 (ANI): An over speeding bus mowed down at least three people in Andhra Pradesh. The accident occurred when the bus broke traffic signal and hit people in East Godavari. The driver immediately fled the spot. The four injured persons have been admitted to a local hospital. Police has registered the case and investigation is underway to nab the culprits.

Blast rocks Assam leaving three injured

Hailakandi, Feb 02 (ANI): At least three persons were injured in a powerful explosion in Hailakandi district of Assam. The bomb, which exploded near a police station, was planted in a shop in the busy market of the town. Police has launched an investigation in the incident. The southern part of Hailakandi district bordering Mizoram is affected by Bru (Reang) militants. Assam is one of the seven states that make up India's restive remote northeast.

National cultural festival 'Maati Ke Rang' showcases India's rich cultural diversity in Nagaland

Nagaland, Feb 02 (ANI): Showcasing the cultural diversity of the country on a single platform! "Maati ke Rang", the five-day long cultural extravaganza that concluded recently in Dimapur city of Nagaland brought alive the vivid culture of India. More than 600 artists from all across the country performed during the event organized by the Ministry of Culture with an aim to bring together India's cultural diversity. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and other dignitaries attended the inaugural day function. Thematic pavilions (Aangans) were put up by different states showcasing their art, craft and food. Visitors relished the delicious cuisines of various states at the stalls.
