Mumbai, Aug 29 (ANI): Film Maker Ashok Pandit on Friday condemned Ram Gopal Verma for his tweet on Ganesha Chaturthi. Pandit said that strong action should be taken against Verma for dishonouring the religion and festival of Ganesha Chaturthi. Verma had tweeted that Ganesha could not save his own head from being cut, so how he can save his followers' heads.

Political leaders celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with gaiety

Mumbai/ Bhopal, Aug 29 (ANI): Political leaders celebrated the Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturthi with religious pageantry on Friday, which marks the re-birth of Lord Ganesha. As devotees across India celebrated the festival with fervour and gaiety, BJP leaders Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Nitin Gadkari also offered prayers to the deity of wisdom. Congress leader, Sushilkumar Shinde, also celebrated the festival at his residence in Mumbai, by establishing the idol of Lord Ganesha. Earlier in the morning, people thronged Mumbai's famous Siddhivinayak temple to pay obeisance.

How Brangelina 'secretly' married in France

New Delhi, Aug 29 (ANI): Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who "secretly" got married in a small ceremony in France, pulled off their wedding the way they wanted, it has been revealed. A source told a magazine, that everyone was happy that the 39-year-old actress and Pitt made it official and had the wedding they wanted. An official from the French village, where the couple tied the knot, said that no one in Correns had a clue about the marriage. The duo, who got married in a small estate in Chateau Miraval had a 35-room main house, an ancient chapel and a working vineyard sprawled over 1,100 acres.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations begin across India

Mumbai/ Nagpur, Aug 29 (ANI): Celebrations of Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganesh Chaturthi has begun across India as people in large numbers are thronging temples and pandals to worship and houour Lord Ganesha. The city of Mumbai, where the festival is celebrated with huge fervour, welcomed Lord Ganesha. The ten-day long Ganesh Chaturthi festival is to celebrate the birthday of the god of wisdom. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who is celebrating the festival at his home, wished people on the occasion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a tweet, also extended greetings to people.

Modak Ingredients For Dough Rice flour - 1 cup A pinch of Salt Hot Water - 1 cup Ghee For Filling A little Water Jaggery - 1 cup Grated fresh Coconut - 1 cup A few Cardamom pods Method: 1. To make the dough, add salt to rice flour and knead a dough with hot water. 2. For the filling: take a little water in a pot, and add jaggery to it and let it melt. After it melts, strain the jaggery syrup to remove impurities. 3. Add the coconut to the strained jaggery syrup. Pound some fresh cardamom and add it. 4. Cook it till all the moisture evaporates and it reaches a thick consistency. Let is cool. 5. Take a little dough and make a round ball by rolling it. Grease your palm, either with ghee or oil. Flatten the dough, place some filling in the center and close it from all sides sealing it. It should look like a dumpling. 6. Make a bunch of these, place it in the steamer and steam the modak for about 10-15 minutes. Remove from steamer and serve. Kejriwal targets Centre over removal of Sanjiv Chaturvedi as AIIMS CVO

New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday slammed the central government over removal of Sanjeev Chaturvedi from the post of chief vigilance officer (CVO) of AIIMS. Talking to mediapersons in New Delhi, Kejriwal demanded that the CBI must investigate the issue and government reinstatement Chaturvedi. He also reiterated that Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan must either resign or face dismissal.

Sanjiv Chaturvedi not eligible for AIIMS CVO post: Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan said on Thursday that Indian Forest Service officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi is not eligible for the post of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Chaturvedi, an Indian Forest Service officer of the Haryana cadre, was removed from the post of Chief Vigilance Officer ( CVO) of AIIMS. This was done even though his appointment order had been for a fixed tenure of four years, ending in June 2016. Chaturvedi also has a reputation as a whistle blower and was reportedly transferred numerous times for exposing scams.

AIIMS removes CVO Sanjiv Chaturvedi from post

New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): All India Institute of Medical Sciences has removed Indian Forest Service officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi of the Haryana cadre from the post of chief vigilance officer (CVO), despite the fact that his appointment order fixed his tenure at four years till June 2016. In an order issued last week, the charge of CVO, AIIMS, was handed over to the CVO of the Health Ministry for three months. Meanwhile, BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that it is an administrative decision and there should be no politics over it.

Idols of Lord Ganesha to cost more in Pune ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi

Pune, Aug 18 (ANI): Artisans in Maharashtra increased prices of idols of Lord Ganesha, ahead of popular festival of _Ganesh Chaturthi_, which marks re-birth of the god. People making various idols of the Hindu god in Pune city said the price hike was due to inflation as labour charges had increased. Shopkeepers also say that idols made of clay will cost more as they are made by hand and it involves more hard work when compared to those made by Plaster of Paris.

Artisans almost complete tallest Ganesha idol ahead of Ganesha Chaturthi

Hyderabad, Aug 11 (ANI): Artisans in Telangana state got together to build one of the tallest idols of Hindu god Ganesha, the deity of prosperity, ahead of popular religious festival ‘Ganesha Chaturthi’, which marks re-birth of the god. Idols of Ganesha are being made few months ahead of the 10-day festival where they are taken through the streets in a dancing and singing procession, to be immersed in a river or the sea symbolising a ritual see-off of his journey towards his abode in "Kailash", while taking away with him the misfortunes of all mankind. Members of the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee said they were building a 60 feet idol of Lord Ganesha in Khairatabad district, claiming it to be the tallest in the world. Head of artisans, Chinnaswamy Rajendran, who is making the Ganesh idol since 1978, said they expected it to be complete by August 25.
