Israeli Defence minister visits Aero India to boost arms sales

Bengaluru, Feb 19 (ANI): Israel's Defence Minister Moshe Ya'alon arrived in India on Wednesday (February 18) to help sell his country's arms industry to the world's largest Defence importer and promote deepening military ties between the two nations. Moshe Ya'alon said India was vital to his country's defence industry. A representative of Israel-based company-Al Cielo-that offers navigation and control inertial sensors, Yodarel, said that Israel based products were ITAR-free. Students in Chennai build solar powered e-scooter

Chennai, Feb 19 (ANI): Students of an engineering college in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu made a solar-powered e-scooter, an eco-friendly step to save non-renewable sources of energy. The solar powered scooter runs on a primary and an auxiliary set of batteries and takes six to seven hours to charge fully. It can travel at a speed of 50 to 55 kilometres per hour and gives a mileage of 45 to 55 kilometres, once charged. The students said the team created this scooter as solar power was the future. India has committed to a huge expansion in renewable energy and improving the energy efficiency of its rapidly growing economy. Feb 19, 2015

Teesta Setalvad's bail plea to be heard in SC, reactions flow

New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): Social Activist Teesta Setalvad's anticipatory bail plea, seeking protection from arrest in connection with a case of alleged financial fraud, will be heard by a new bench in Supreme Court on Thursday. Reacting to this, politicos said that activists who fight for correct should be provided with security cover. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that it is a judicial process and Court will give its verdict. CPI leader Atul Anjan said that Setalvad should be provided with proper security cover. JD (U) leader KC Tyagi said that she has become a bone of contention for the government of Gujarat. New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church, Ignatius Aphrem-II urged nations to unite against militancy saying that its victims were not members of a particular religion. Speaking with mediapersons in New Delhi, Ignatius Aphrem-II expressed his concerns over brutal killings by the militants of Islamic State and repeated attacks on churches in India’s national capital. The insurgent group has expanded its reach around the Arab world. The group, on February 15 released a video showing the beheading of 21 Egyptian Christians. Ignatius Aphrem-II, who is on an 11-day visit to India, arrived in Kerala on February 7. During his visit he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi and discussed the series of attacks on churches. India has seen a sharp rise in the number of swine flu deaths and reported cases this year, prompting officials to investigate the cause and step up efforts to combat the virus. Meanwhile, one more person succumbed to swine flu in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.
