Bikers rally to create awareness on Rhino poaching in Assam

Guwahati, Feb 09 (ANI): Motorcyclists rode through streets of Guwahati in Assam to create awareness about endangered one-horned rhinoceros, typical to the region in the country. The bike rally, organised by Royal Enfield and a club Rhino Riders, saw participation of 50 enthusiasts who wore T-shirts with messages, 'Rhinos will live', and waved flags. A participant from Rhino Riders, Siddhartha Bhattacharya, said that it was important for citizens to know about the rampant killings of the animal. The thick-skinned, one-horned Indian rhinoceros is one of the five surviving rhino species in the world. Feb 9, 2015

Rajnath Singh chairs meeting of four CMs of Naxal affected states

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): In order to give shape to fight back against the Naxals, Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting of chief ministers of four Maoist-hit states in New Delhi on Monday. The Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Telangana and Odisha attended the meeting today. According to reports the meeting stressed on better coordination among state and central paramilitary forces of the four states to plug loopholes and counter the rebels. Shrines of Sufi saints and their spirituality at Urs of Ejmail in Rajouri attract all faiths

Rajouri, Feb 09 (ANI): Kashmir, besides being called as paradise on earth, also houses shrines of various Sufi saints. These saints have preached oneness on the soil of Jammu and Kashmir which is a mix of different religious faiths. Their spirituality and simple life attracted people of different faiths and they embraced their teachings, besides holding them in high regard. A similar example is seen at the Shrine of Ejmail in Rajouri of Jammu and Kashmir, where devotees pay obeisance to saint and seek his blessings. Thronging the shrine in thousands, the devotees hold the day-and-night-long prayers to pay homage to the saint, besides asking for fulfillment of their wishes. Kashmiri separatist leader calls for complete shutdown

Srinagar, Feb 09 (ANI): Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Monday called for complete shutdown in Kashmir to observe death anniversary of Mohammad Afzal Guru, who was executed for masterminding militant attack on Parliament in New Delhi. All the shops remained closed and traffic was off the roads in Srinagar as well as other parts of the valley. The normal business was affected due to the non availability of traffic. Meanwhile, the state government imposed a curfew across Srinagar to prevent protest rallies on the day. Security forces anticipating unrest have imposed curfew in Srinagar and ordered people off the streets. Police officers and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have stepped up surveillance across the city. Pak violates ceasefire in R S Pura sector in J-K

Rs Pura Sector, Feb 09 (ANI): In yet another case of ceasefire violation, the Pakistani forces opened fire at ten border outposts in Jammu's RS Pura Sector on late Sunday night. In response to the unprovoked firing from Pakistan at 11:30 pm last night, the BSF troops retaliated to the firing. The latest ceasefire violation took place days after Pakistani forces on Thursday opened fire at a BSF outpost along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir. Further details are awaited. New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Amid deepening political crisis in Bihar, JD (U) expelled Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi from the party. Manjhi, who has refused to resign as Bihar Chief Minister to make way for Nitish Kumar, has been expelled by his the party. According to sources, Manjhi, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday and reportedly discussed the Bihar situation, was accused of anti-party activities. "I am the Chief Minister and I will be here till the legislature party decides otherwise," Manjhi had said on Sunday. Manjhi had also promised to step down if he failed to prove his majority. Need evidence to take action against black money account holders, centre taking rigorous steps: Jait

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday said that there is a need for evidence and that only revelation of names of the black money account holders is not enough to initiate legal action. The Centre has initiated tax-evasion proceedings against 60 Indian accounts that have allegedly parked black money in foreign accounts, Jaitley said. Jaitley further said the Centre has put in rigorous efforts towards digging black money during the last six to seven months. He said that most of the names revealed in the list today are known to the government. He said that the assessments of 350 account holders have been done and the rest will be completed by March 31. Re-polling in two constituencies of Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): A day before Delhi assembly election results, residents in two constituencies of the national capital had to vote again on Monday due to fault in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). As per media reports, voters in Delhi Cantonment and Rohtas Nagar constituencies were notified about re-polling on Sunday, after election officials found that EVMs still contained the mock votes, which were polled to check the machines. The government has declared a paid holiday in both the constituencies. However, few voters faced inconvenience and said there were no proper arrangements to keep their phones and belongings.
