Kashmiri Nationalists Blame Pakistan for Exporting Terror

Vienna/Muzaffarabad, PoK, February 10, 2015: Despite proclamations, Pakistan's export of terror to neighboring countries continues. Kashmiri nationalists allege Pakistan occupied Kashmir or PoK has virtually become a recruitment and training hub for anti-India groups. There seems to be no end to Pakistan's support to terror, via Pakistan Occupied Kashmir or PoK. Nationalist leaders have for long complained about the mushrooming of terror camps in the remote region, which operate with impunity despite opposition from all corners. Terror outfits like the Lashkar-e-Tayeba or LeT and the Jamaat-ud-Dawa or JuD look towards PoK's mountainous terrain to undertake training of youth to further their agenda. At a recent conference on "Terrorism and its impact on the South Asian region" in Vienna, Jammu Kashmir International Peoples Alliance said religious intolerance and extremism were major the threats to peace in the region. Pakistan, which has illegally occupied PoK for the over six decades, has been training and arming militants to wage proxy war against India, since the late seventies. Publicly, the Pakistani government maintains that it is a victim of terrorism and will not allow any militant groups to operate from its soil. Indian security officials in civil clothes to strengthen connect at borders

Siliguri, Feb 10 (ANI): In a unique initiative, India's paramilitary Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) (Armed Border Force) launched a pilot project in Siliguri in which officials would be deployed at Nepal and Bhutan borders for smooth transit of people. As a part of the project, SSB officials will be seen in civil clothes at India-Nepal and India-Bhutan borders to help civilians, who often get intimidated by seeing security officials. SSB Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Ranidanga Sector, A.K. Mallik, said that officials dressed in civil clothes would be able to establish greater trust among people. An SSB official, Shriparna, hoped that this initiative would ward off fear from civilians. The teams have been specially trained by experts from Ranidanga and Jalpaiguri sector headquarters to be empathetic to the civilians. Oldest elephant 'Maheshwari' dies in Thiruvananthapuram zoo

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 10 (ANI): An 85-year-old elephant, Maheshwari died in a zoo in Thiruvananthapuram city of Kerala. Maheshwari was the oldest inmate of the zoo. A couple of days back, a frail Maheshwari had collapsed after a bath and could not stand on her own since then. The zoo authorities tried lifting her up with a crane but all efforts went in vain. Surgeon at the zoo, Doctor Jacob Alexander said that Maheshwari breathed her last at 10.45 a.m. Zoo officials paid last respects to Maheshwari, who was also accorded with a proper funeral and complete last rites.
