Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai manhandled by Modi supporters outside MSG in New York

New Delhi, Sep 29 (ANI): A few hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to address the Indian-American community at Madison Square Garden in New York, TV Today consulting editor Rajdeep Sardesai was manhandled by a group of pro-Modi supporters outside the venue. Immediately after the incident Sardesai tweeted: "Great crowd at Madison square garden! except a few idiots who still believe abuse is a way of proving their machismo!Glad we caught the idiots on cam. Only way to shame the mob is to show them." Sardesai was first heckled and then pushed by a group gathered to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi, before the leader arrived at the venue to address Indian Americans. She has received the Sikkim Sahitya Samman for the year 2013. She believes that such programmes are a big encouragement for young writers like her. The In-residence programme for writers and artists was launched by the president in December last year. Besides Bhutia, the present batch comprises - Dr Vempalli Gangadhar, a Telugu writer and artists Pratap Morey from Mumbai and Rahul Saxena from Chennai.
