People in Gilgit Baltistan demand their rights

Skardu, July 07: Such protests are widespread on the streets of Gilgit Baltistan. They have been fighting for their basic rights - education, healthcare, food and employment. In Skardu, thousands of people took part in demonstrations for several days to oppose the Pakistan Government’s decision to withdraw the wheat subsidy. The protesters, under the banner of the Awami Action Committee, a constituent of 22 different political, religious and nationalist parties, also demanded an end to colonial rule. Nationalist leader Manzoor Parwana said that Gilgit Baltistan is a disputed area and Pakistan will never succeed in making it a part of its territory. SC rules out Sharia Courts and fatwas, terms it illegal

New Delhi, July 07 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday issued a landmark judgement where it declared that the Sharia Courts and religious decrees or fatwas are illegal if they tread on the rights of an individual. The court further objected to the Sharia Courts ordering punishments against innocent people and said that no religion permits the same. 116 workers freed from Iraq arrive in India

New Delhi, July 07 (ANI): 116 Indian workers who were till now caught up in the war torn Iraq arrived home on Monday, while many others are still being held captive by the suspected militants. Indian workers were greeted with garlands and were offered water and juices at the airport in New Delhi.
