AMU's women's wing appeals for safety measures instead of restrictions

Aligarh, Nov 11 (ANI): Aligarh Muslim University's (AMU) Women's College Students Union President Gulfiza Khan said on Tuesday that instead of imposing restrictions on girls, the college authorities should introduce safety measures. University's vice chancellor Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah has rejected the demand of students of Women's College for access to the organization's Maulana Azad Library. He said that if girls were permitted in, there would be "four times more boys" in the library. Latehar, Nov 11 (ANI): Huge cache of explosives was recovered in poll bound red corridor area of Jharkhand in a joint anti-Maoist operation by commandos of paramilitary and special police unit. The explosives were recovered by elite CoBRA commando troops of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Jharkhand ‘Jaguars’ police unit in Latehar district of Jharkhand in a joint exercise. The items recovered in this operation include 1745 detonators, 154 pressure cookers, cortex wires, 4 quintals of urea, gunpowder, three gas cylinder based Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) of 50 kg each and other loose explosives. Superintendent of Police (SP), Latehar, Michael Raj S said that the operation was launched on a tip off intelligence in the Maoist infested area. Dhaka, Nov 11 (ANI): Family members of the Islamist leader, Mohammad Kamaruzzaman, convicted for war crimes, urged Bangladesh Supreme Court to review its verdict of upholding his death penalty. In May last year, a special war crimes tribunal found Kamaruzzaman, an assistant secretary general of the Jamaat-e-Islami party, guilty of genocide and torture of unarmed civilians during the 1971 war of independence from Pakistan. The tribunal sentenced him to death. Kamaruzzaman's son, Hasan Iqbal pleaded his father's innocence and requested the court to reconsider the verdict. Kolkata, Nov 11 (ANI): A small explosion occurred near the office of National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Kolkata, police and interior office officials said. An officer at the police control room in Kolkata said the cause of the blast at the NIA office had not yet been established. Interior ministry official said preliminary information was that nobody had been injured. The NIA is currently investigating an earlier explosion in Burdwan, near Kolkata in October, that the agency believes was a botched plot by Bangladeshi Islamist militants to kill Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. A Kolkata court on Sunday gave the NIA custody of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) commander Sajid, a Bangladeshi national who West Bengal police arrested on Saturday in connection with the blast.
