Haryana Assembly polls: BJP, INLD workers clash in Sirsa

Sirsa, Oct 15 (ANI): As Haryana went to polls on Wednesday, clashes and firing were reported between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Indian National Lok Dal supporters in Sirsa. The incident took place in the Modiakhera village in Sirsa. According to reports, two people have been injured in the violence and have been taken to a hospital for treatment. IAF fighter jet crashes into hamlet near Pune during training session

Pune, Oct 15 (ANI): An Indian Air Force fighter jet crashed at Wagholi village, 20 kilometres from Pune city airfield in Maharashtra, during a training session. The Sukhoi-30MK1 jet, which is one of the main aircrafts in the Indian Air Force, was introduced in the Air Force fleet in 1997 and has been considered safe. Both pilots ejected safely and no loss or injury to life has been reported. Locals heard a loud noise and saw the plane fall out of the sky. Police and Air Force teams rushed to the spot after they were informed of the crash. India has 200 Sukhois in its fleet and 70 more jets have been ordered from the Russian manufacturer. President Pranab Mukherjee arrives in Finland

Finland, Oct 15 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee arrived in Finland on a two-day official visit after completing his visit to Norway. He was received by Secretary of State Peter Stenlund at the airport in Helsinki. Mukherjee is accompanied by a high level delegation to Finland where he is expected to meet Finnish president, prime minister, foreign minister and the speaker. He will address a Business Seminar in Helsinki and attend an official lunch hosted by its Mayor. He will also visit 'Arktikum' museum, Arctic Science Centre, Rovaniemi and cross the Arctic Circle. No place for third party in Indo- Pak relations :MEA

New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said issues between New Delhi and Islamabad would be resolved through dialogue and there was no place for third party after Pakistan had sought United Nations intervention in the wake of border shelling in disputed Kashmir region. Akbaruddin added that India would not tolerate violence at the de-facto border dividing two nuclear armed neighbours. Further, he said that it seemed that Pakistan was not interested in a serious dialogue. Since the beginning of October, Pakistan and India have been firing mortars and machine-guns across the border, leading to the highest death toll in a decade among civilians on both sides. Bihar Madarsa bans admission for girls

Nalanda, Oct 15 (ANI): An Islamic religious school - madarsa - in Bihar has banned admission for girls as there is no separate sitting arrangement for them in the campus. Madarsa Azizia in Bihar Sharif, district headquarters of Nalanda district, has issued a diktat that girls will not be enrolled and those already enrolled will not be allowed into the premises. He further added the decision has been taken in the wake of social evils prevailing in the society. Madarsa Azizia is run by Soghra Wakf Estate Committee. Traditional Buffalo fight thrills scores of spectators in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, Oct 15 (ANI): Scores of spectators thronged to witness the thrilling one-day buffalo fighting festival organised as part of local tradition and religious belief in Himachal Pradesh. The buffalo fight organised in Poabo village nearly 10 kilometers from Shimla saw villagers coming from more than 15 villages who brought their buffalos to participate in the match. The century-old buffalo fight is performed annually and involves the specially reared animals being brought to the ring, following which they are provoked for the duel. Organiser Rameshwar Thakur believed that it is a rich heritage which they want to preserve for future generations. The tradition is also to pacify the god Saturn and villagers believe that an opportunity to watch and participate in this fighting is a way to please Saturn which would bring happiness and prosperity.
