TVS Motor Company has rolled out 50,000 unit of the BMW G 310 series bike from its Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu on Thursday. TVS Motor Company is in charge of production of BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS models and the bikes manufactured at Hosur plant is not only sold in India but also in the entire global markets.

In April 2013, TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad signed a long-term strategic partnership to manufacture sub-500cc motorcycles for the global markets. This collaboration has resulted in the launch of three products on the 310cc platform so far- BMW G 310 R, BMW 310 GS and TVS Apache RR 310.

"Six years back, we took a crucial step with the decision to enter into the sub 500cc category in partnership with TVS Motor Company. In them, we found a perfect partner who has always stood for high quality and technology. We are delighted that we are rolling out the 50,000unit of our 310 series motorcycles in less than two years," said Dr. Markus Schramm, Head of BMW Motorrad.

BMW Motorrad India launched the G 310 R and G 310 GS in July. The roadster model G 310 R has been priced at Rs 2.99 lakh while the adventure sibling G 310 GS costs Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Both the bikes are powered by newly developed 313cc water-cooled single-cylinder with four valves and two overhead camshafts together with electronic fuel injection. The engine develops 33.5bhp at 9,500rpm and a maximum torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm mated to a six-speed gearbox. BMW claims the G 310 twins can accelerate from 0 to 50kmph in just 2.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 143kmph.

BMW Motorrad has brought down the Rate of Interest (ROI) on both the bikes to 3.10 per cent which is usually 14-18 per cent. In addition, the German premium bike maker offers one-year complementary free insurance for the G 310 twins. While these two brings down the on-road prices significantly, some of the dealerships also offer a cash discount for the bikes. All three combined, the G 310 R and G 310 GS can be bought with benefits up to Rs 70,000 depending upon the dealership.
