New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Monday after Minister of State Agriculture Sanjeev Balyan said that SP leader Azam Khan is not less than any 'terrorist'. BSP Chief Mayawati said that Khan and Balyan keep on giving controversial statement and that her party doesn't support any of their statements. SP leader Gaurav Bhatia and JD (U) leader Ali Anwar also condemned the statement.

India gears up to celebrate Christmas

Visakhapatnam/Mumbai, Dec 22 (ANI): People across India have begun preparations for Christmas which is just round the corner. Locals in the port city of Visakhapatnam were seen buying various decorative pieces to deck up Christmas trees. They also attended special prayers in churches ahead of the festival. This is the first major festival that the residents of Visakhapatnam are celebrating after the devastating cyclone Hudhud. Meanwhile, people in Mumbai were seen thronging local markets making special Christmas purchases. Christmas is celebrated with much pomp, gaiety and devotion across India.

NRIs likely to get voting rights soon, says Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI): Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj said she hoped the non-resident Indians (NRIs) would soon be able to cast votes in the county. Swaraj talked about the long-standing demand of the NRIs while addressing a news conference in New Delhi on Monday, ahead of the Indian Diaspora Day, which will be held in Gujarat. Swaraj added that this year Indian Diaspora Day will mainly focus on Modi's Make in India Campaign and single window clearance in a bid to lure fresh foreign investment in Asia's third largest economy.

BSE closes points 329.95 up on Dec 22

New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 329.95 points up to stand at 27,701.79. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 98.80 points up to stand at 8,324.00. BF UTILITIES LTD and SUZLON were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 19.99% and 8.07% along with GITANJALI and FRL with an increase of 7.68% and 7.31% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include RASOYPR and CEAT LTD with a decrease 4.97% and 4.13% along with INFRATEL and GREAT EASTERN SHIPPING CO.LTD with a decrease of 3.62% and 3.42% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 265.51 points at 18,626.39 while the banking sector is up 309.84 points at 21,455.62 and the reality sector is up 15.88 points at 1,514.37. The Indian currency is up 0.11% at Rs 63.23 per dollar.

Conversion row: Uproar in RS, PM Modi likely to give a statement on the issue

New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI): A united opposition on Monday created turmoil in Rajya Sabha demanding a reply from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on forcible religious conversions. According to reports Modi is likely to make a statement today in Rajya Sabha, which has witnessed uproar for almost a fortnight now over the issue. A united opposition said the government is following "an unacceptable agenda" of trying to convert Muslims and Christians to Hinduism and demanded a statement from PM Modi in Rajya Sabha, where the NDA government is in a minority.
