Devotees from different faiths throng at Urs of Sheikh Hamzah Makhdoom in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 22 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir, a land of peace and harmony, well known for the spiritual places is like an abode for the saints of India. Among those saints is Hazrat Sheikh Hamzah Makhdoom of Srinagar, who earned high regards from his followers due to his teachings of unity. His followers belonging to different communities come together every year at his shrine to pay obeisance to the saint. The annual Urs of this famous saint is being observed according to the Islamic Calendar and is celebrated for 13 days. Devotees here come with utmost devotion and preach saint's teaching who believed in the message of brotherhood. Every day hundreds of devotees visit this famous shrine of the Kashmir valley and pray for peace and prosperity of the people and the state.

Azam Khan lashes out at PM Modi over religious conversion

Rajya Sabha adopts resolution against bail to 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind

New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI): The Rajya Sabha, on Monday adopted a resolution condemning a Pakistan court's decision to grant bail to Mumbai attacks mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi. There has been widespread protests in India after Lahkhvi was granted bail, two days after Peshawar school attack which killed 132 children and nine staff members. Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari, condemned Pakistan government's attitude leading to Lakhvi's bail as he read out the resolution, passed unanimously by the House. The resolution also called upon Pakistan to take steps to punish the people involved in the attack

Politicos react after Omar says UPA should have awarded Vajpayee with Bharat Ratna

New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Monday after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that Congress-led UPA government should have conferred Bharat Ratna to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. BJP leader Sambit Patra said that he agreed with Abdullah's statement. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also welcomed Abdullah's statement. However, he added that Abdullah should have thought about it when UPA was in power. JD (U) leader Ali Anwar and KC Tyagi said that they didn't object giving Bharat Ratna to Vajpayee but felt that there were even other freedom fighters whom similar honour should be given.
