Two militants, two security officials killed in encounter in Kashmir

Pulwama, Jan 27 (ANI): Two militants were killed and an army officer and a police constable martyred on Tuesday (January 27) in an encounter in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. A gun battle broke out between the militants and security forces after the latter launched a cordon and search operation in Tral area on a tip off about the militants. The martyred army officer Colonel MN Rai had been awarded a gallantry award just yesterday. Reportedly, the militants belonged to the outfit Hizbul Mujahideen and some arms and ammunition was also recovered from the place of encounter. Militants have been targeting security bases in Kashmir since 1990s, when there was a full-blown insurgency against Indian rule in the region.

One NDFB(S) militant arrested by Bengaluru police, interrogation underway: MN Reddi

Bengaluru, Jan 27 (ANI): The police in Bengaluru arrested another wanted militant belonging to the notorious tribal militant outfit, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB). The ultra has been identified as Sanju Bordoloi alias Shibigiri. NDFB is a militant group which has been fighting for a separate state for ethnic Bodos in Assam. Bengaluru Police Commissioner MN Reddi said that Bordoloi was nabbed following specific tip-off. Reddi further said that Bordoloi was being questioned about his associates - if any- in the city. He is wanted in two cases by the Assam police and in a case by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Bordoloi fled Assam after coordinated attacks on tea plantation workers and their families in the last week of December 2014. At least 80 people were killed in the massacre. Reddi added that the city police was waiting to hand the arrested ultra over to Assam police.

New Delhi Jan 27 (ANI): Gwyneth Paltrow is set to write her third cookbook that will feature the "clean comfort food" recipes for the whole family, it has been revealed. She said that she might do appetizers for a party section because that's always a tough one, a leading magazine reported. She would love to share some easy party food and kid-family food recipes this time, she further added.She also mentioned that she loves writing these books and felt really lucky that people bought the first two books. This will be her third cookbook, following 2013's 'It's All Good' and 2011's 'My Father's Daughter with Mario Batali.'

Why oatmeal breakfast is best for dieters

New Delhi, 27 Jan (ANI): Having oatmeal for breakfast can make you feel fuller, with lower hunger ratings and fewer calories at lunch. The study showed statistically significant higher ratings of fullness, lower ratings of hunger, and fewer calories consumed at lunch after consuming oatmeal compared to sugared corn flakes or water.The study authors suggested that the greater satiety effect of oatmeal cereal compared to sugared corn flakes or water might be due to a slower gastric emptying (oatmeal took longer to leave the stomach). Given that the results were more pronounced in overweight subjects, researchers suggested that a longer-term weight control study testing daily oatmeal for breakfast is warranted.

Investor-friendly tax regime vital for ease of business with India, says Arun Jaitley

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday stressed that a friendly tax administration could help enhance India's relations with investors from across the world. Jaitley's remarks came a day after Prime Minister Modi along with US President Barack Obama met with business leaders to enhance relationships. Jaitley was addressing customs officials in New Delhi on the occasion of International Customs Day. Modi had promised a stable and predictable tax regime in India during the meet. Jaitley said investors needed to know that the Indian government was working towards an investor-friendly tax administration.

BJP hits back after Rahul Gandhi says Modi govt didn't do anything
