Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajgath on his 67th death anniversa

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 67th death anniversary at Rajghat in New Delhi. Prominent leaders from various political parties and other dignitaries are also paying floral tributes at Rajghat. On this day in 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated at a prayer meeting. The day is also observed as Martyrs' Day as tribute is paid to the martyrs who laid down their life for the nation.

Three Indian villagers injured in fresh ceasefire violation by Pakistan

Arnia, Jan 30 (ANI): In a fresh incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistani Rangers on the international border in Kashmir, three villagers were injured. The incident happened in Arnia sector of Jammu and Kashmir late Thursday night. The Border Security Force (BSF) has retaliated in full measure. Villagers rushed the three injured to a government hospital where condition of one of them has been described as critical. Residents said they faced difficulty in rescuing the wounded amid a barrage of bullets. Thousands of villagers have migrated to safer areas since October last year when Pakistan resumed firing along the international border and line of control.

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): In a major embarrassment for the Congress party Jayanthi Natarajan, who was sacked as Environment minister three months ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls has apparently blasted the leadership of Rahul Gandhi in a letter sent to party chief Sonia Gandhi. According to reports, the minister is likely to quit the party days ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls. Natarajan alleges the interference by Rahul Gandhi resulted in her being made the scapegoat for the government's failed attempts to revive the inert economy.

Documentary premiered in Dharamsala cautions Tibetans against China's cyber attacks

Dharamsala, Jan 30 (ANI): A Tibetan digital security group called Tibet Action Institute premiered a documentary in Dharamsala showing China's unrelenting cyber attacks against the exiled community. The documentary titled "Tibet: Frontline of the New Cyber War" unfolds the pain of Tibetans living in exile and the problems facing them in maintaining online contact with their family members. The film cautions Tibetans against China's cyber attacks and details measures to counter those threats. The documentary also features researchers from The Citizen Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto. A presentation was also made by Tibet Action Institute's Director of Technology and founder of the Guardian Project, Nathan Freitas to educate people about the Chinese mobile messaging app, WeChat.

Four-day car rally in Siliguri attracts visitors

Siliguri, Jan 29 (ANI): People thronged the four-day state sponsored car rally which is being held in Siliguri district of West Bengal. The third National Time Speed Distance (TSD) Himalayan car rally organised by tyre manufacturer JK Tyre in association with West Bengal Tourism department is witnessing participants traversing a 700-kilometer stretch through the northern parts of the state. 27 cars with 54 participants are taking part in the motorsport. The route apart from touching main tourist spots will also go through smaller towns to showcase the natural beauty of the state. Participants said the drive was full of adventures and hoped people from other states would also join in. The rally ends at the outskirts of Siliguri city in West Bengal.
