Supreme Court declines Chhagan Bhujbal's petition against SIT

New Delhi, Feb 2 (ANI): In a major blow to NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal, the Supreme Court on Monday declined his petition against the SIT that was set to investigate the corruption cases against him. The Bombay High Court had, in December, directed formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to probe charges of money laundering against the former PWD minister and his family.

Subramanian Swamy says will move SC on Ram Temple issue; politicos react

New Delhi, Feb 2 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Monday said he would approach the Supreme Court if Prime Minister Narendra Modi -led government at the Centre does not start the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya by 2016. The BJP, which achieved absolute majority in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, had after coming to power said that Prime Minister Modi-led government at the Centre would clear the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Politicos gave mixed reaction on the matter.

New Delhi/ Lucknow, Feb 02 (ANI): Muslim clerics as well as Political leaders on Monday react on BJP leader Sadhvi Prachi's controversial remark. Prachi has said that she did nothing wrong in asking Hindu women to give birth to 4 kids and that she is not asking for 35-40 puppies. All India Imam Organization Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi said that this is condemnable and that the time is not to do all this but to get together and fight terrorism. Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali said that the prime minister should take action on the same. Congress leader PC Chacko said that this is objectionable in secular nation like India. AAP said that this signifies BJP and that such statements take the political system in India to the lowest levels. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh BJP President Laxmikant Bajpai distanced the party from the statement and said that the party will question Prachi over the same.

Bike stunts, car pulling attract people to rural sports festival in Punjab

Ludhiana, Feb 02 (ANI): Spectators thronged Punjab state to witness various stunts on bikes, cycles and horses during the 79th edition of Kila Raipur Rural Sports Festival. Also known as 'Rural Olympics', the sporting festival attracts athletes who compete with each other and perform stunts. The sporting event started in 1933 with just wrestling and athletics. Now the event showcases a plethora of rural and modern sports. The weightlifting event also comes with a twist as instead of standard weights, participants lift tyres, wooden stairs, bicycles and large logs of wood. Over the years, this sporting event has assumed huge popularity with people coming to see and participate from all over Punjab and neighbouring states. Apart from sports, the tournament also saw dance performances as part of cultural events to showcase rich Indian tradition.

AAP holds meeting over BJP advertisement issue, to file complaint with EC

New Delhi, Feb 02 (ANI): AAP leaders on Monday held a meeting at AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal's residence in Kaushambi to discuss the issue of BJP's casteist advertisement. AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that the meeting was held to discuss further action over the advertisement and added that the party will file a complaint with Election Commission in this regard. He further raised the issue of Kiran Bedi's campaign manager Narendra Tandon's resignation and said that if Tandon, who has been a loyalist of BJP since long, could not work under Bedi how she can lead the people of Delhi.

HC issues notice to Kejriwal and EC on furnishing false information

New Delhi, Feb 02 (ANI): Delhi High Court on Monday issued a notice to Election Commission as well as AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal on the plea of Congress leader Kiran Walia. Walia had filed a plea over false information furnished by Kejriwal with regard to his residential address. AAP leader Ashutosh said that the party holds the Court high and will give a proper reply to the notice. Meanwhile, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that the people of Delhi have already issued a notice to Kejriwal as he will not be able to cross single digit seats in the polls.

Bihar CM raises controversy over age-assets, BJP reacts

New Delhi, Feb 02 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has once again raised controversy regarding his age and assets been filed with the Election Commission. BJP leaders GVL Narasimha Rao and Nalin Kohli condemned Manjhi's way of disobeying the EC. Rao said that the Election Commission should be careful that the information furnished by candidates is uniform in all affidavits so that no leader can cheat in such matters. Kohli said that Bihar is in a sorry state under Manjhi's leadership who keeps changing his information.
