Maulana Sadiq's remarks do not imply Muslims are sympathetic towards Modi: NCP

New Delhi, Oct 26 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar on Saturday said that Maulana Kalbe Sadiq's statement that Muslim doors are not closed for talking to Narendra Modi meant that there is scope for forgiveness in Islam, but it does not imply that Muslims are sympathetic towards the Gujarat chief minister. Earlier this week, Maulana Kalbe Sadiq said that Modi should show that he cares for Muslims. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board deputy chief said Modi can garner votes for the BJP, if he shows that he cares for Muslims. The noted scholar, however, added that it cannot be forgotten that the 63-year-old Modi did fail to prevent the Gujarat riots.

Mulayam dreams of being PM but can't even handle UP properly: Beni Prasad

New Delhi, Oct 26 (ANI): Senior Congress leader and Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma who has been attacking Mulayam Singh Yadav, on Saturday hit out at SP Chief over Muzaffarnagar riots. Talking to mediapersons in New Delhi, he said that hundreds of people from Gujarat came to Muzaffarnagar and indulged in rioting and the Uttar Pradesh government protected the rioters as both BJP and Samajwadi Party were in ‘collusion.’ He also said that Mulayam Singh is dreaming to become the Prime Minister of the nation but can't even handle UP properly.

After Phailin, AP now faces flood and waterlogging crisis

Visakhapatnam, Oct 26 (ANI): After surviving cyclone Phailin, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha now is in flood crisis. Incessant rainfall triggered a rise in floodwaters on Saturday in Andhra Pradesh's port city Visakhapatnam, inundating houses, clogging roads and paralysing normal life. Non-stop rains, which pushed up the volume of the water in many rivers, continued to lash Srikakulam district of the province for the last few days. Five people were killed by the floods in Odisha and seven in the neighbouring state of Bihar. The death toll from Phailin now stands at 33.

Naresh Agarwal will be served notice for 'extremely derogatory' remark: NCW

New Delhi, Oct 26 (ANI): National Commission of Women (NCW) chairperson Mamta Sharma on Saturday said that the commission would send a notice to Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal to explain his indecent remark about women. Sharma also explained that the derogatory word could have multiple meanings, and said that Agarwal's usage of the word irrespective of its prescribed context was extremely insulting and unacceptable.

Asarams judicial custody extended till Nov 6

Noida, Oct 26 (ANI): A Jodhpur Session court has extended judicial custody of self-styled godman Asaram till November 06. Asaram has been accused of rape, sexual assault and illegal confinement by two Surat-based sisters. He was arrested in August on the charge of sexually assaulting a minor girl and has been in prison at Jodhpur since then.
