BNP strike takes toll on cross-border India- Bangladesh trade

South Dinajpur/ Dhaka, Oct 30 (ANI): The ongoing strike in Bangladesh called by the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) took a toll on the cross-border trade with India, which left hundreds of trucks stranded at the transit point in West Bengal. BNP began a three-day strike in the country on Sunday demanding a caretaker government during the upcoming national elections in 2014. The truck drivers expressed their ire over the strike as they were not allowed to cross the border and unload their goods, specially the perishable items.

Unnao gold hunt: ASI to continue digging for treasure

New Delhi/Daundia Khera, Oct 30 (ANI): Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will expand the excavation area at an ancient fort in Uttar Pradesh after it failed to trace tonnes of gold lying buried under the palace as dreamt by a Hindu sage. Addressing a news conference, the Director General of ASI, Praveen Shrivastava, rubbished the media reports about ASI calling off the excavation at the fort in Daundia Khera village.

Narendra Modi following Goebbels theory: Atul Anjan on Patel legacy war

New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): After Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi shared a stage amidst battle over Sardar Patel legacy, CPI leader Atul Kumar Anjan said that Modi is following ‘Goebbels theory’ to hide the lies of his party. Anjan said that Patel was close to Mahatma Gandhi, whose murderer hailed from RSS ideology and Patel himself put a ban on RSS. According to Goebbels theory, if you repeat a lie frequently enough, people will sooner or later believe it.

At least 40 killed in bus fire at Bangalore-Hyderabad national highway

Mehboobnagar, Oct 30 (ANI): At least 40 people are feared dead when a private Volvo bus traveling from Bangalore to Hyderabad catches fire after it hit an oil tanker on Bangalore-Hyderabad national highway fire early Wednesday morning. Most of the passengers on the air-conditioned luxury bus were asleep when the driver hit the oil tanker trying to overtake another vehicle. The tank burst, causing the fire. Some passengers an driver and cleaner of the bus managed to break the glass windows of the bus and escape before the fire engulfed it completely. The injured were taken to Government hospital at Wanaparthy and later are being shifted to Apollo hospital in Hyderabad.

At least 2 killed in Manipur bomb blast

Imphal, Oct 30 (ANI): At least two people were killed and seven others injured when a powerful bomb was detonated near Manipur Chief Minister's Okram Ibobi Singh residence on Wednesday in Imphal. The injured people were rushed to the hospital and their condition is said to be serious. The bomb was placed under a cart in an area where migrant daily wage earners line up their carts. Most migrant workers here hail from Bihar and Assam. On Tuesday five persons were injured in a blast that hit a market complex in the state capital.
