Congress leader Imran Masood threatens to chop Modi, politicos react

New Delhi/ Lucknow, Mar 28 (ANI): Congress candidate from Uttar Pradesh Imran Masood was caught on tape threatening to chop BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi into pieces. Reacting to the same, BJP leaders Jagdambika Pal and Meenakshi Lekhi strongly condemned the use of such foul language and demanded the Election Commission’s immediate action. Meanwhile, Muslim cleric Maulana Khalid Rashid also opposed the statement made by Masood calling it uncivilized.

Terrorist attacks in J&K to increase due to govts soft attitude: Defence Expert

New Delhi, Mar 28 (ANI): Following the terrorist attacks in Kathua district of Jammu & Kashmir, Defence Expert Captain (Retd) Bharat Verma said that terrorist attacks will increase in number in the coming days due to soft attitude of the central government. Verma said that the government’s ‘gandhigiri’ towards the terrorists and vote bank politics in the nation have increased their potential and courage. IPL Spot-fixing case: Gavaskar to replace Srinivasan as BCCI interim President

New Delhi, March 28 (ANI): Supreme Court on Friday pronounced that Sunil Gavaskar will replace N Srinivasan to take up the post of interim president of the BCCI. The Supreme Court gave three interim orders to the BCCI, that is, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings will not take part in IPL 7 tournament, Gavaskar replacing Srinivasan, and all India Cements employess be removed from BCCI. The lawyer further informed that it is for Gavaskar to decide whether Sundar Raman will remain to hold his post or not.

Militant arrest foils terror attack plan in UP

Lucknow, March 28 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Police arrested militants in Lucknow and revealed that the arrested militants had plans to target and destroy crucial places in an armed attack. Inspector general of police of Uttar Pradesh, Amrender Singh Senger, revealed that the arrested militants were targeting to launch an attack using AK-47 and pistols in a crucial location in the state. The Inspector General added that the captured militants, Abdul Waleed and Salim were trained by Taliban in Afghanistan. Police also recovered two AK 47 rifles, three pistols, SIM cards of India and Nepal, Indian identity cards and 900 US dollars.

Eight killed in West Bengal road accident

Maldah, March 28 (ANI): At least eight passengers including women and children were killed and several others injured in a road accident in Maldah district of West Bengal. The accident took place on a national highway when a bus and a lorry collided head-on resulting in damage to life and property. Police immediately rushed to the spot and took the injured to a nearby hospital with the help of locals and five of them are in a critical condition.

Maoists blast cell phone tower in Gaya

Gaya, March 28 (ANI): Maoists blasted a cell phone tower in Gaya city of Bihar while chanting slogans of boycotting the upcoming general elections. According to police, more than sixty Maoists arrived in Dumaria village in Gaya to destroy the tower, ahead of Narendra Modi’s visit in the district. Police station incharge of Dumaria village, Shashi Shekhar Chauhan, said that the Maoists were heard chanting slogans of boycotting the upcoming general elections in the country. An eyewitness to the event and the guard of the destroyed tower, Jayaprakash Narayan, said that he came to know about the event when he heard a loud sound while he was sleeping in a house near the tower.

Militants launch attack in J&K, 1 killed

Kathua, March 28 (ANI): Suspected terrorists in army uniform launched a series of attack in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday killing one person and injuring others when they attacked an army camp close to the International Border with Pakistan. The injured are taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Army and police teams have been chasing the militants since 5 am, when the militants allegedly stopped a Mahindra Bolero vehicle on the Jammu-Pathankot highway and fired indiscriminately at the passengers. The militants escaped in the car and surfaced near an army camp in Janglote, where they started firing at army men, police official said.

BCCI to take final call on next President: Sunil Gavaskar

Mumbai/ Vizag/ New Delhi, March 28 (ANI): Following the Supreme Court’s proposal to appoint Sunil Gavaskar as the interim chief of the BCCI, Gavaskar said that it is for the board to take the final call, as the board is all set to surface its decision over the proposal on Friday. Earlier, The Supreme Court called on BCCI Chief N Srinivasan to step down to ensure a fair probe in IPL Spot fixing case. MoS for Parliamentary Affairs and former chairman of IPL, Rajiv Shukla refused to comment on the pronouncements of Supreme Court. However, former cricketer Chandu Borde expressed confidence that the cricket board will take a decision on this.

Political parties hit out at central govt for abstaining from Sri Lanka Resolution in UNHRC

Chennai/ New Delhi, March 28 (ANI): Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) hit out at central government after it abstained from voting on a US-sponsored resolution for probe into war crimes in Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The resolution was adopted as 23 countries voted in its favour, 12 against it while others abstained at the 47-member-state forum in Geneva. DMK leader TKS Elangovan said India should have moved the resolution. CPI leader D Raja said it was a betrayal of Tamil people’s cause in Sri Lanka.
