Congress condemns attack on Kejriwal

New Delhi, April 04 (ANI): The Congress has condemned the attack on Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday. Congress leader Manish Tewari said that it is extremely condemnable and unfortunate. He added that absolute peace must be maintained during the campaign process. Kejriwal was attacked in Delhi's Dakshinpuri area by an unidentified person. The man was handed over to the police by AAP volunteers. According to reports, an unidentified person lunged at Kejriwal when he was campaigning in the area in an open jeep. He slapped him on the neck before being taken down by Kejriwal's supporters.

Politicians file nominations, hold rallies ahead of 2014 polls

Kolkata/ Farrukhabad, April 04 (ANI): Indian politicians from different parties in poll fray toured various parts of the country to file nomination papers and address rallies ahead of general elections. BJP is expected to release its manifesto soon. However, BJP leader in Odisha, Dharmendra Pradhan, unveiled manifesto for the state and assembly elections. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid, filed his nominations in Farrukhabad.

BSF seizes 13 packets of heroin in Amritsar

Amritsar, April 04 (ANI): India's paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) recovered 13 packets of heroin from Pakistan smugglers in Amritsar, after fierce gun battle. Addressing mediapersons, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Border Security Force, MF Farooqui said 13 packets of heroin were recovered. The suspected miscreants have reportedly fled taking advantage of the darkness. BSF chief also added that tight measures are being undertaken along the border in the backdrop of the upcoming general elections.

Imran Masood out on bail, denies giving hate speech against Modi

Saharanpur, April 04 (ANI): Congress leader Imran Masood, denied knowledge of giving provocative speech against BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi after he was released on bail. A court in Uttar Pradesh remanded Masood, to 14-day judicial custody on Saturday after police arrested him for publicly threatening to murder Modi, post an FIR filed against him accused him of violating the election code of conduct. A criminal case was also registered against Masood, who is Congress party candidate from Saharanpur, after a video of him threatening Modi went viral on the web.

BJP approaches EC to stop airing of Cobrapost sting, says its Congress' strategy

US gives explosive incident counter measures equipment to India

New Delhi, April 04 (ANI): Outgoing US Ambassador to India, Nancy Powell gave explosive incident counter measures equipment worth $300,000 to Mumbai police to aid the fight against terrorism. In a bid to step up efforts against terrorism, Powell said Washington and New Delhi were working together to make life safe for people. Powel, resigned on Monday from the post of US Ambassador to India following a series of diplomatic hiccups. However, while serving an interim period in India, Powell mentioned both countries were victims to terrorism.
