Police tighten security as Maoists threaten residents of Jharkhand to boycott polls

Simdega, April 04 (ANI): Police have deployed additional forces in Maoists hotbed in Jharkhand after rebels threatened the residents to boycott parliamentary polls. Threat looms large over many villages in Simdega district as rebels wrote on the walls of the schools and other voting centres, forcing people not to step out of their houses on the poll day. However, police has assured that adequate steps are being taken to foil any attempts by rebels. Maoists say they are fighting for the rights of poor farmers and landless labourers.

Inspector General of Police Rajesh Kumar along with DIG Shakeel Ahmed Beig of Jammu launched ‘Smart 24x7’- a Mobile based security Application at Police Control Room for the state. Although it has been more than 11 days since the last snowfall in Kashmir valley, but the locals are still facing hardships caused post snowfall. The authorities in Shopian district which received some 4 feet of snow cleared the roads for vehicular movement but during the process, they dumped the snow on the roadsides which is now causing heavy traffic jams and inconvenience to the commuters. Many houses got damaged due to flash flood in the canal of Upper Sindh power project Phase-II in New Colony Gund in Ganderbal district of Kashmir Valley. Water entered in many residential houses and damaged them very badly.

Congress Leader Meem Afzal said that AAP has become 'Khaas Aadmi Party' and that their graph is going down rapidly and that the party will not gain votes in future. New Delhi, April 04 (ANI): After BJP moved Election Commission over Sonia Gandhi and Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari of Jama Masjid, Congress leader Meem Afzal asked if Narendra Modi can meet Baba Ramdev, what is the issue in Sonia-Imam meeting. Condemning the meet, BSP leader Sudhindra Bhadoria said that asking for votes based on religion is wrong. Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal said that Gandhi is trying to encourage communal forces by all this. Madhusudan Mistry released on bail over poster war, Politicos react

New Delhi, April 04 (ANI): After Congress senior leader Madhusudan Mistry was arrested and thereafter released on bail over the 'poster war' in Vadodara, party leader Meem Afzal said that it was just a symbolic protest by Mistry to show that how Narendra Modi has taken over all advert spaces in Vadodara, leaving no space for Congress' campaigning. Reacting on the same, BSP leader Sudhindra Bhadoria condemned the action and said that BJP and Congress share the same ideology. JD (U) leader KC Tyagi said that Mistry is a former RSS worker and is aware of their tactics and so, the fight in Vadodara between such ideologies will be interesting.

Arvind Kejriwal slapped by unidentified person during his roadshow

New Delhi, April 04 (ANI): AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal has been slapped in Delhi's Dakshin Puri area by an unidentified person on Firday. The man has been handed over to the police by AAP volunteers. An unidentified person lunged at Kejriwal when he was campaigning in the area in an open jeep. He slapped him on the neck before being taken down by Kejriwal's supporters. However, Kejriwal appealed to not resort to violence, but his supporters started beating the man. AAP volunteers later had to escort the man to safety after forming a protective ring around him.

Fire engulfs orphanage in New Delhi, two dead

New Delhi, April 04 (ANI): Fire killed two after it engulfed an orphanage in New Delhi on Friday (April 04), as the firefighters struggled to douse the raging inferno. The incident took place at around 2.00 am (IST) in the orphanage, housing around 150 people including old, mentally challenged and severely ill. Fire tenders immediately reached the spot to douse the blaze. The ranging inferno also resulted in huge loss of property. The president of the orphanage, Ravi Kalra, said the survivors were shifted to a safe place by the rescue teams.

Centre must act and show it is not going soft on communal forces: SP

New Delhi, April 04 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Naresh Agarwal on Friday, called for stringent action from the centre against those forces that had demolished the Babri Masjid. An elaborate sting operation, conducted by Cobrapost on 23 key people of the Ram Janambhoomi movement, claims that the fall of the disputed 16th century structure on December 6, 1992, was elaborately planned by various wings of the Sangh Parivar and executed with precision by trained volunteers. It wasn't, as it is claimed, a case of mob frenzy going out of control, leading to the collapse of the Babri Masjid .
