JD (U) releases its manifesto for LS Polls

Patna, April 05 (ANI): JD (U) releases its manifesto in the presence of Party Chief Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Yadav said that their manifesto is true and valid according to the present situation in the country. Yadav also stated that the party's work matters more and will make an impact on the people. He further said that there is no particular issue which is important because all issues of corruption, unemployment, inflation etc need equal attention for the development of the country.

Security forces on high alert to ensure peaceful elections in the Northeast

Assam/ Tripura/ Mamipur, April 05 (ANI): With barely a fortnight remaining for voting to begin for the general elections, elaborate security measures have been put in place all over the country. In the Northeast, the security forces are on high alert to prevent any attempt by insurgent outfits to disrupt the democratic process. The region has a past experience of poll boycotts by underground outfits, and incidents of threats and extortions against candidates. In Assam, security has been tightened in sensitive areas, as outfits like NDFB (S) are threatening candidates and demanding money. In Tripura, around 20,000 security personnel, including 15,000 state police and Tripura State Rifles jawans, would be deployed to maintain law and order during the elections.

Congress moves EC against Amit Shah's 'communal remark' over Muzaffarnagar riots

New Delhi, April 05 (ANI): After BJP leader Amit Shah called for revenge in Muzaffarnagar over the riots that took place in the district, Congress legal cell moved Election Commission on Saturday. AICC legal cell Secretary KC Mittal said that giving hateful and provocative speeches in Jaat dominated, sensitive area was completely wrong and that this will be spreading hatred among people. Members of Ex-ULFA co-ordination committee urge people to vote sensibly

Guwahati, April 05 (ANI): The coordination committee of All Assam Ex-United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), in Guwahati dubbed president of peasant organization Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, Akhil Gogoi, as a Maoist and urged people to cast their vote wisely in upcoming general elections. President of the co-ordination committee, Bhaskar Kalita, while addressing a news conference with other members, claimed that Gogoi had undergone training in a Maoist camp. He also said that they do not want youth from Assam to die in the name of armed revolution. Moreover, Kalita appealed to the people of Assam to cast their vote wisely.

Modi wave spreads across restaurants in Moradabad

Moradabad, April 05 (ANI): With Lok Sabha Polls just a couple of days away, it seems the Narendra Modi factor has been generating a political wave across the country as many restaurants and food outlets in Moradabad are decorated with photos of BJP's prime ministerial candidate. At the food outlets in Moradabad, one can see walls, menu cards and even the utensils with Modi's photograph and staff and managers working wearing masks of Modi. Owner of a restaurant, Prakash Yadav, said that people should be inspired from Modi who used to be a tea stall owner and is now a Prime Ministerial candidate. The walls of the restaurant and the menus have newspaper cuttings of Modi and his ongoing election rallies so that the customers can read about him while they wait for their order to arrive.
