Congress expels GK Vasan

New Delhi, Nov 3 (ANI): Congress leader Ajay Kumar on Monday informed that GK Vasan has been expelled from the Congress officially, for going against the party line. Earlier in the day, Vasan had also informed that he has quit the party and is ready to launch his own new party. Vasan had thanked the Congress leadership for giving him and his cadres some important and responsible roles. He had also said that the cadres were not satisfied with the party's approach and wanted to follow a new political path, which is why he had decided to quit Congress and launch a new party.

President emphasises on providing livelihood security to lower rungs of society

New Delhi, Nov 03 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday (November 03) said that there is a compelling need to provide livelihood security to those in the lower rungs of the socio-economic ladder. Mukherjee inaugurated a Summit on 'Livelihood Security: Realising the vision for 1.3 billion Indians' organised by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, he presented an honest appraisal of issues concerning livelihood security and expected solutions that would guide policy makers. Mukherjee emphasised on the need of poverty elimination not merely poverty elevation.

All parties want assembly to be dissolved, Delhi will go to polls: AAP after meeting LG

New Delhi, Nov 03 (ANI): AAP leader Manish Sisodia after meeting with Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung said that Delhi will go to polls soon. LG had called for an all party meet with three major political parties- BJP, Congress and AAP- and all had asked him to dissolve the current Assembly and go for fresh polls in the capital city. Sisodia also said that Jung will be submitting the report to Central Government by evening on Monday. Further he added that AAP is ready for elections and has requested LG to hold them in the ongoing election phase.

Forest rangers rescue Lion from a village well in Gujarat

Junagadh, Nov 3 (ANI): Struggling for almost an hour, forest rangers on Monday (November 03) rescued a Lion that was trapped in an open village well in Gujarat. The Lion fell into the well after it had strayed into Amarpur village in Junagadh district of Gujarat, in search of food. Forest rangers said the Lion will be kept under observation for a day and will be released in the wild life sanctuary. Instances of wild animals like Lions, leopards and tigers straying into residential areas are getting common in many parts of the country now. Depletion of habitat has also threatened the wild animals, forcing them to stray into human settlements - attacking people, poultry birds and livestock cattle - and often getting killed in return.

Communal Harmony- A way of life in Natungram

Known for pumpkin farming culture, the village houses farmers belonging to Hindu as well as Muslim communities, who have been working here from past twenty three years together. The demand of pumpkin is high in Kolkata, especially during the festive season, as devotees use it as a substitute for banned animal sacrifice. Farmers from different religious backgrounds work in the farm with a great spirit of brotherhood and shows the essence of communal harmony which is a reflection of our Indian culture. Farming has not only being the source of livelihood for the farmers in Natungram village but has also become a reason of bringing together people from vivid cultural background and bringing smiles on their faces.
