SP supporters thrash toll plaza employees in Barabanki, Politicos condemn state govt for 'deteriorat

Barabanki/ New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): Supporters of the ruling Samajwadi Party leader Abhay Singh were caught on camera mercilessly thrashing toll plaza attendants in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh in broad daylight. No formal complaint has been filed with the police yet. Although Barabanki SP Abdul Hamid said that case lists names of three unidentified people and investigations are on. The whole incident was recorded by a close circuit camera inside one of the booths. Condemning the state government, party president in UP, Laxmikant Bajpai said that if police don't take action in the case, people of UP will take action during the state polls. BSP leader Sudhindra Bhadoria and Congress' Rashid Alvi also took jibe on SP government in UP and said that law should take its course or else it could lead to further depleting the law and order situation in the state. Hindu Women Conference discusses role of fair sex in Indian Politics

New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): Hindu Women Conference, a part of World Hindu Congress being held in New Delhi, on Saturday discussed the role that the fair sex can play in Indian politics and urged them to emerge as powerful as their counterparts were in ancient times. The three-day event began on Friday and will culminate on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that politics is an open box of which women have always been a part since ancient times. Sitharaman encouraged the women present at the conference not to keep a low profile in the field of politics, otherwise they will be lost. Sitharaman also added that even the most powerful maker (God) had to have a feminine quality in hand. She also advised women politicians to speak up for their work. New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti on Saturday said that all the states, barring one or two, were in favour of inter-linking rivers, while addressing the 'Jal Mathan' conference. Bharti inaugurated the national conference, 'Jal Mathan', which will take up consultations with state irrigation ministers, secretaries for water resources. The three-day conference will also discuss issues like water security, water projects, farm water management and rejuvenation of water bodies. Bharti said the government would address concerns of the states and environmentalists. Abdullah alleged that central ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), opposition Congress party and state's main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), didn't care for distressed people. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of villages were devastated by the worst flooding in decades in the Kashmir valley. Roads in Srinagar, Kashmir's main city, were transformed into stagnant canals strewn with wreckage, trash and dead animals.
