Kolkata, Nov 23 (ANI): TMC leader Derek O'Brien on Sunday hit back at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for slamming West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over Burdwan blast. Jaitley had slammed Banerjee over her comment that the Burdwan blast was stage managed by the Centre and had said that police and intelligence agencies have nothing to prove that it was stage managed and alleged that the state CM chose to not take action against culprits. Derek O'Brien said that whole episode was a part of larger BJP master game plan as PM used this narrative throughout his rallies. He also alleged that the episode was designed at the RSS headquarters. Further, the TMC leader also questioned on source and amount of money spent Maharashtra and Haryana polls among others.

Bollywood celebrities pledge to fight militancy in Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 23 (ANI): Bollywood celebrities on Sunday (November 23) pledged to fight militancy as they prayed for the unfortunate souls who were victims of the ghastly attacks in Mumbai that sent shock waves across the globe. Bollywood actors Vivek Oberoi and Akshay Kumar carrying balloons and placards pledged to protect their motherland in the prayer meet which was organised by All-India Anti Terrorist Front (AIATF). Apart from Bollywood actors, children from across Mumbai city also took part in the pledge taking ceremony. India will be observing the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks that shook the entire nation in 2008 when gunmen stormed prime hotels and city landmarks killing more than 160 people and wounding many more.

Famed stand-up comedian takes up Modi's 'Clean India' mission

Kanpur, Nov 23 (ANI): Famed stand-up comedian, Raju Srivastav, who was nominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 'Clean India' campaign, on Sunday took up the challenge clearing garbage off a dirty street in Kanpur. Srivastav thanked Modi for nominating him and making him part of the campaign. Srivastav said he nominated people from all the parties because he wanted everyone to get involved.

New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): All party meet to discuss agenda for Parliament's Winter Session which will begin from Monday ended and different political parties put forward varied issues to be taken during the session. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that BJP and Shiv Sena has same views and outlook on the Kashmir issue. JD (U) General Secretary KC Tyagi also discussed various issues which the party is looking forward to discuss at the winter session. Congress’ Mallikarjun Kharge said that party wants that bills that are still pending need to be kept on the table again including women reservation bill. Meanwhile, Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that government is more than willing to work on the suggestions of the opposition parties. Showing confidence on smooth functioning of the Parliament session, Naidu said that all parties should cooperate including Mamata Banerjee’s TMC. He also said that TMC govt should also understand that central government has no role in the functioning of CBI in Burdwan blast case or any case whatsoever.

West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi given additional charge of Bihar

New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday appointed West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to discharge the functions of Governor of Bihar in addition to his own duties. "The President of India has been pleased to appoint Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Governor of West Bengal, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Bihar, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Bihar is made," said a press communique issued by the President's Secretariat. Bihar Governor Dr DY Patil completes his tenure on November 26.

Huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered in J and K

Baramulla, Nov 23 (ANI): Army personnel on Sunday recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from a militant hideout in forest area in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to Major MK Chaitanya, the security personnel had been receiving inputs for the past two and a half months about the movement of militants in woods in the district. On Sunday, after receiving a specific input, with the assistance of Special Operations Group (SOG), an elite anti-insurgency force of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the weapons were seized. The operation lasted two and a half hours. Chaitanya further added the matter is yet to be investigated.

Catholics in New Delhi carry out procession to mark feast of 'Christ the King'

New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): Catholics from across New Delhi and the neighbouring areas took out a peaceful procession on Sunday to celebrate the feast of 'Christ the King'. The celebration which marks the end of the liturgical year is an annual event and this year it concentrated on burning issues of the country. Father Stanley Kozhichira, former Media Director of Archdiocese of Delhi, said this year the Archdiocese of Delhi is emphasising on issues like violence against women and racism against people of northeastern states. The procession saw hundreds of devotees taking part in it while small children showered flowers and everyone sang devotional songs. Sunday was also an eventful day for Indian Catholics as an Indian priest and a nun were canonized by the Pope.
