Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's horror comedy Stree is giving chills to the Deols starrer Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se (YPDPS) at the box office.

Stree performed exceptionally well on the opening day of its release and managed to earn more than expectations and early estimations. It earned Rs Rs 6.82 crore at the domestic market whereas Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se earned just around Rs 1.82 crore on Day 1.

The Amar Kaushik directorial horror comedy opened to 30 percent occupancy in theatres while Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol's film witnessed an average opening upto merely 10 percent in the morning shows.

The word of mouth boosted its business on Saturday. Stree witnessed over 40 percent growth and collected around Rs 10.87 crore at the Indian box office on the second day. Its domestic total stands at Rs 17.69 crore net. The movie is likely to cross Rs 30 crore mark in the first weekend.

Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Stree catches speed and hits double digits on Day 2... The low costs and high theatrical returns makes it a BIG SUCCESS... Expect further growth on Day 3... Eyes ₹ 30 cr [+/-] weekend... Fri 6.82 cr, Sat 10.87 cr. Total: ₹ 17.69 cr. India biz."

The Deols will have a tough time competing at the domestic market with Stree, which is riding high on the strong word of mouth. The business of Stree is expected to multiply over the weekend but the same cannot be said about its contemporary.
