Security tightened at Siri Fort Auditorium as US President Obama all set to address gathering

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Security has been tightened outside Siri Fort Auditorium in Delhi as US President Barack Obama is set to end his three day India visit with a speech before a select gathering. Obama is to speak on future of the bilateral ties between America and India. Speaking on "India and America: The future we can build together", Obama will take questions from the audience of at least 2,000 people, including members of the strategic affairs community and students. During the programme, Obama is also expected to meet Noble laureate Kailash Satyarthi. The event is expected to start around 10:45 AM and likely to go on for 45 minutes. Meanwhile, Delhiites will have to face another day of incessant traffic jams, around south Delhi’s Siri Fort auditorium and the Ring Road around South Extension. The roads will remain closed for traffic movement according to the passage of the entourage.

Here people of different communities can be seen working together and maintaining good relations. Many small rope making units dot the region providing employment to several hundred people. A visit to one such rope making unit speaks volumes about the Hindu-Muslim unity. People of both communities work together and report no tensions between them. Owned by a Muslim, this rope making unit employs workers from both communities. The owner claims that he has expanded his business over the years leading to creation of more jobs. The industry today provides employment to hundreds of un-educated people.

People from varied faiths flock at the Urs of Sufi saint Syed Mohd Ishaq (RA)

One such saint was Syed Mohd Ishaq (RA) who taught brotherhood to people of different communities. Cartoonist RK Laxman dies at 94

New Delhi, Jan 26 (ANI): RK Laxman, the country's best-known cartoonist, passed away at 94 on Monday evening, at the Dinanath Mangeshkar hospital in Pune, where he was on life support for the past few days. Born in 1921 in Mysore, Laxman had no formal training in cartooning but the work he put out over decades was sheer genius. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the sad demise of Laxman. PM Modi tweeted- "My condolences to the family and countless well-wishers of a legend whose demise leaves a major void in our lives. RIP RK Laxman."
