Biopics are the new originals in Bollywood. Over the past two years, several biopics have been made chronicling the lives of famous or infamous or influential personalities and turned it into a larger than life cinematic experience. Recently, Soorma, a biopic on Indian hockey player Sandeep Singh starring Diljit Dosanjh, was released and his inspiring journey left a lasting impact on the audience. Biopics on badminton player Saina Nehwal and retired professional shooter Abhinav Bindra are also on the cards wherein Shraddha Kapoor and Harshvardhan Kapoor will be seen portraying them on screen, respectively.

And now producer Ronnie Screwvala has reportedly bagged the rights of making a biopic on the life of India's ace tennis player Sania Mirza and is currently on the look for a director. After finalising the director, the makers will begin the casting process.

"Many have been wanting to make a film on Sania's life for a while now and Ronnie has finally bagged the rights for it. The story will be a balance of her professional and personal life with the latter getting more prominence. The makers will zero down on a director soon, after which they will begin the casting process," a source was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.

It will be interesting to see which actress will be chosen to play Sania Mirza and replicate her energy on screen.

Sania Mirza has won six Grand Slam titles and is a former world no. 1 in doubles. She began playing tennis as a teenager who later turned into a professional in 2003 and started playing in major tournaments.

She was felicitated with the Arjuna Award from the Government of India in 2004. In 2006, she was honoured with the Padma Shri, the 4th highest civilian honour in India and in the same year, she became the first female from India to be seeded at a Grand Slam at the Australian Open.

In 2015, she was honored with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and a year later she was awarded with the Padma Bhushan, India's 3rd highest civilian honour.

Mirza got married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik on April 12, 2010. She is pregnant with her first child and is currently in the second trimester. She announced her pregnancy in April this year in the cutest way possible and the Malik family is in a jovial mode.
