Samsung, in a bid to create a buzz around the official Galaxy S7 unveiling event on Feb. 21, kick-started a promotional "Seven Days of Unboxing" video teaser campaign on social media platforms on Monday, Feb. 15.

So far, the company has released two such videos. The first was aired on Feb. 15 and it showed a kid named Tyson being given a sneak peek into Galaxy S7 and after seeing it, he drew a smartphone showing dual-edge display.

And on Tuesday's (Feb. 16) clip, a Llama named Kuzco -- a popular Disney character -- is shown the phone and the animal with the help of its trainer draws a scattered pattern on the big canvas using a brush. But, sadly it does not provide any clue at all on what specs, the Galaxy S7 series would come with.

That being said, there are many speculations doing the rounds on the Galaxy S7 series features on the Internet. We have sifted through many such reports and based on credible inputs we have lined a list of key specifications, which are most likely to make the cut in the upcoming Samsung marquee phone.

Display & Design:

Some recently-leaked images of Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have indicated that the design language are likely to be the same as last year's Galaxy S6 series, but with some changes in terms of size for Edge model and two key improvements in terms of durability and memory.

We have learnt that the Galaxy S7 Edge will come with 5.5-inch screen, 0.4-inch bigger than its predecessor. On the other hand, the flat-panel-based normal Galaxy S7 model will have 5.1-inch display same as the Galaxy S6. Both the models will have QHD (2560x1440p) resolution.

They are also said to come with waterproof certification and microSD card slot option, which was sorely missed in the previous series.

Processor, RAM and storage:

According to the recently-leaked benchmark scores, both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are expected to come in two SoC (System on Chip) variants depending on the region of sale.

One will house the company's proprietary Exynos 8890 series Octa-core CPU, while the other will come shipped with Qualcomm's 2.2GHz Snapdragon 820 series quad-core processor.

Both the devices are said to come shipped with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage with an option for expansion.

Camera:

The upcoming Galaxy S7 series are expected to house a 12MP camera with f/1.7 aperture on the rear-side and a 5MP wide-angle front snapper.

Many might wonder why Samsung would lower Mega-Pixel (MP) count in its flagship phone from 16MP seen in the Galaxy S6 series to 12MP in its successor.

For those unaware, this is actually a myth. High MP count doesn't necessarily guarantee a nice photo. There are other important aspects that help in capturing a top-notch picture. Aperture and lens size are two such key parameters that are considered while designing a good camera and Samsung plans to deliver the same in the upcoming phones.

Battery:

In 2015, Samsung got panned for keeping just 2600mAh battery in the Galaxy S6 series, despite incorporating the power guzzling QHD (2560x1440p) display.

But this year, the company is reportedly bumping the battery capacity to 3600mAh in the Galaxy S7 Edge.

Value-added features-

The Galaxy S7 series are said to come with fingerprint sensor, which is a standard norm among flagship models in smartphone industry.

Another value-added feature that is likely to cheer Samsung fans is that the upcoming phone will boast IP68 water-proof certifications. This means the devices can survive for up to five-feet underwater for close to 30 minutes.

Release details:

Word on the street is that the new Galaxy S7 series, after getting unveiled on Feb. 21 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event, they are expected to hit stores in select markets on March 11.

Even the previous release patterns of the Galaxy S series phones seem to suggest the same.
