New Delhi, Sep 28 (ANI): After Vice President Rahul Gandhi dubbed the government’s Ordinance on convicted politicians as ‘nonsense’ worth tearing apart, and thereafter wrote a letter to PM to placate him, SP leader Naresh Agarwal said that such an insult of PM is an insult of the nation and is making the nation a laughing stock in front of the neighboring countries. He further said that such a behavior with the PM of the nation will render all the talks with foreign countries useless.

Artificial heart pump gives man in Chennai new lease of life

Chennai, Sept 28 (ANI): In a first for India, an artificial heart pump was installed in the chest cavity of a 42-year-old man after he was diagnosed with rare heart disease. The procedure was successfully conducted at the Fortis Malar hospital in Chennai by Dr K R Balakrishnan, who is the director of the Cardiac Sciences Division. The Heartware Ventricular Assist Device (HVAD) gave the patient, Satish Kumar, the ability to carry on with his life and revive his heart, which was once functioning at only 15 percent. Speaking to a journalist in Chennai, Balakrishnan said that considering Kumar’s heart condition the only two options were either install the pump or undergo a transplant. As the transplant could take atleast three months, depending on the availability of a healthy heart, installing the pump was the only option. Kumar was diagnosed with end-stage heart failure, medically referred to as dilated Cardiomyopathy, a condition due to which the heart’s main chambers fail to pump blood.

PM woos business leaders, aims to boost foreign investment

New York, Sept 28 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met the business leaders in the US with an aim to woo them to invest in India and attract foreign investment, as he arrived in New York for his address in the UN General Assembly. Singh addressed business leaders and prominent personalities at a meet where he was accompanied by foreign minister Salman Khurshid and planning body deputy chief Montek Singh Ahluwalia. Earlier Singh met U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington who praised improving ties between the United States and India.

PM is definitely honest: JD (U) after JPC report on 2G scam

New Delhi, Sep 28 (ANI): A day after JPC meet gave clean chit to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram and charged the then Communications Minister and DMK MP A Raja responsible for the 2G scam, JD (U) leader Shabir Ali on Saturday supported the report and said that the PM is definitely honest and there is no doubt about the same. New Delhi/ Mumbai/ Goa/Kerala/ Agra, Sep 28 (ANI): The fall in rupee has made it cheaper to travel across India and the country's tourism is reaping the benefits with a surge in the number of foreign tourist arrivals as well as an increase in the number of Indians who are opting for the beaches of Goa over cruises on the Nile. The number of foreign tourists arriving in India between January and June witnessed a rise, but the big push is expected during the holiday season that gets underway from September-October, the tourism ministry says.
