Social media was abuzz with the news that the Censor Board has asked to trim Jana Nayagan by 20 minutes. The makers have agreed to the same. A fan tweeted, "#JanaNayagan buzz : Clarity on the issue is expected soon. Reportedly, the producer has agreed to trim around 20 minutes of footage. If everything goes as planned, the team is aiming for a February 13 release."

It was also rumoured that the makers of Jana Nayagan have already trimmed it and the fresh copy to the Censor Board. The uncut version will be released on Amazon Prime. Another fan wrote, "Buzz: #JanaNayagan was reportedly trimmed by 20 minutes and sent back to the censor. The uncut version is expected to release on @PrimeVideoIN four weeks after the theatrical release."

But the insiders from the industry slam the reports saying that the makers of Jana Nayagan are yet to finalise their decision to go with court case against CBFC or not.

There is no truth in the reports that Censor Board of Film certification (CBFC) has asked the makers of Jana Nayagan to trim 20 minutes of controversial scenes, say the sources from the industry.

Producer G Dhananjheyan tweeted, "#JanaNayagan 20 minutes edited and submitted to censor etc. - how on earth people cook up such stories and post in social media? The Producer yet to finalise his plans with Censor and why such fake news is being spread by all ? What's the agenda? Is it to spoil the expectations on the film? Just stop it guys ✍️"

Dhananjheyan added, "Let's wait for official confirmation from Producer before sharing any news. Censor process yet to be firmed up thro' court. We will know post that, their release plans in February also. However, many new films are waiting to fix their release date in February based on #JanaNayagan release date. Hope a proper announcement comes soon to enable these films to release in February or postpone to March 2026 "
