He told NDTV, "I have made up my mind and I have given up on the films. Politics Is my future. I feel bad for my producer, who is suffering due to the delay of Jana Nayagan."

The crowd crush happened in Velusamypuram on the Karur–Erode highway, when large sections of the crowd surged towards Vijay in an attempt to catch a glimpse of his convoy on 27 September 2025. At least 41 people were killed and around 100 others were injured in a crowd crush.

Talking about the Karur incident, Vijay admitted it shocked him and continues to haunt him. He needed time to process the pain before responding publicly. He said, "I expected this, but I didn't expect the Karur incident. It came as a shock and a surprise to me, and it took time to process the entire Karur stampede."

Vijay added, "I feel terrible it still haunts me, and I'm still very confused. I know that my films could be targeted because of my presence in politics. I was already mentally prepared for it."

Responding to criticism about his silence, Vijay clarified that he speaks through his speeches and that silence should not be mistaken for inaction. Meanwhile he confirmed that his fan clubs will be converted into party cadre, forming the backbone of his political movement.
