Lenovo-owned Motorola is all geared up to launch the new phone Moto G6 Plus in India on September 10. It is the top-end model among the Moto G6 and the Moto G6 Play.

The company is expected to announce the price and availability details of the Moto G6 Plus. Going by the previous iteration's price, it is expected to cost around Rs 14,000 and Rs 20,000.

But, will the new Moto G6 Plus phone find takers in India?

Most probably, because the Motorola brand has a huge following, particularly the Moto G series in India. The upcoming model—Moto G6 Plus— too has some intriguing features, which we believe will find traction in the sub-continent.

Build quality and display design:

Motorola's Moto G6 Plus flaunts uni-body design language. It comes with a good blend of high-grade metal and 3D glass on top of the shell, exuding glossy premium feel. It's not just visually appealing, it's tough and scratch resistant too. There are very few in the mid-range segment that offers this kind of experience.

On the front, it sports a 5.9-inch full HD + (2160x1080p) IPS screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 shield that helps the phone to sustain from accidental drops and daily wear and tear like protection from scratches caused from keys or pens in the pocket.

It supports 18:9 aspect ratio, thus guaranteeing cinematic viewing experience. The Motorola phone also comes with night mode, which optimises the display brightness automatically so that the device owner's eye don't strain while viewing the content on the screen in the night or low-light condition.

Pure Android:

Motorola was one of the first OEMs(Original Equipment Manufacturers) to offer pure Android OS experience on their phones and the Moto G6 Plus is also coming with same. Except for value-added Moto apps, it has no third party applications and no complicated custom user-interface like we see in other brands. It is a hard task to learn new UI with so much customisation, every time we buy a new phone. But, it will be a cakewalk to navigate through the Moto G6 series.

It runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box and the good news is that it is slated to get the Google's latest Android 9.0 Pie in coming months.

Camera:

The USP of the Motorola Moto G6 Plus is its camera. It comes with feature-rich 12MP+5MP with dual autofocus Pixel tech, landmark recognition, object recognition, text scanner, portrait mode, spot colour, face filters, panorama, manual mode, up to 4K Ultra HD video, timelapse video and slow-motion video. It boasts F1.7 aperture and this will guarantee really good snaps even with the low-light environment.

On the front too, it houses equally impressive 8MP camera with group selfie mode, beautification mode, manual mode, face filters, up to 1080p (30 fps) video recording, timelapse video and slow motion feature.

Battery:

It comes with 3,200mAh battery. In my experience of reviewing phones, aforementioned cell capacity is more than sufficient to last a day under mixed usage, which includes a session (around 20 to 30 minutes) of playing video, games (simple non graphics-intense), calling, messaging, browsing on social media sites and among other day-to-day functions of the phone.

Security:

Moto G6 Plus comes with two layered biometric safety features –face unlock and fingerprint sensor-- in addition to the pattern and passcode-based security.

The face recognition technology of Moto G6 Plus may not be on par with IR sensor-based iPhone X, which works even in pitch dark condition, but it is good enough for the price it commands and will have less False Rejection Rate (FRR) in good light condition.

Even the fingerprint sensor of the Moto G6 Plus is expected to be of top-notch quality with less FRR.
