2016 has become a fabulous year for 56-year-old Mohanlal, who is on a roll with three back-to-back blockbusters this year. The superstar, who is basking in the success of the Telugu movie Janatha Garage and the Malayalam films Oppam and Pulimurugan, has emerged as the winner of the second half of the year 2016 at the Kerala box office.

Mohanlal has now become the first actor in Malayalam to enjoy the rare feat of being part of two blockbusters, which have earned more than Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office. Apart from two Rs 100 crore grossers, the superstar also has another movie, which has earned more than Rs 50 crore from the box office all over the globe.

Janatha Garage

The Koratala Siva-directorial Janatha Garage has become the first blockbuster of Mohanlal this year. The movie, which also stars Junior NTR in the lead role, has raked in more than Rs 100 crore becoming the first project of the superstar to enter the prestigious club. The family action thriller is said to have made a total business of approximately Rs 134.8 crore from the worldwide box office with Rs 4.40 crore from Kerala alone.

Pulimurugan

If Janatha Garage made Rs 100 crore for having Junior NTR and Mohanlal in main roles, then the veteran actor has Pulimurugan to his own credit as it has entered the club within one month of its theatrical run. The Vysakh directiorial, which has been tagged as one of the best action thrillers with good graphic works, has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, as announced by the superstar on November 7. It has now become the first Malayalam movie to achieve the feat.

Oppam

The crime thriller Oppam, helmed by Priyadarshan, has also been opened to tremendous response from the audience. The movie is estimated to have made a business of more than Rs 41 crore from Kerala alone within two months of its release. Although the official collection figures from the other box offices are not out as of now, trade analysts predict that the movie has already crossed the Rs 50 crore mark as it has been performing well in worldwide theatres.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal's first release of the year, Manamantha, the Telugu family entertainer, which was also made in Tamil as Namadhu and Malayalam as Vismayam also opened to positive response.
