Two suspects have been detained in the Kritika Chaudhary murder case. The watchman of the actress' building was detained by the police, while the crime branch detained a male friend of the victim. The latter is the prime suspect in the case.

The police have been thoroughly interrogating the suspects to get details of the sequence of events on the day of the incident. The watchman said he saw two male friends of the actress entering the building with her early on June 7 or 8, after which he did not see her again.

Kritika's brother Deepak, who arrived in Mumbai from Haridwar along with his mother to collect Kritika's body and later performed her last rites at the Vile Parle crematorium, told Mid-Day: "Kritika had married Vijay Dwivedi in 2011; she divorced him more than four years ago. Her husband had claimed to be the son of a prominent politician, but when we checked his background, it turned out to be a lie."

Dwivedi had allegedly cheated many popular celebrities, including Bollywood actor Govinda, Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms, television actress Shweta Tiwari and Congress leader Amrish Patel, an India Today report said. Dwivedi  is currently being interrogated by the police in the murder case though they don't think he could have killed the 27-year-old model-actress.

Deepak also claimed that the killer had stolen all her valuables. "We tried to speak to her on June 12, after we did not receive a call since June 8. Finally, police attended the call and told us about the incident. We cremated her body in Andheri late on Wednesday," he told the Times of India.

Kritika was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her apartment in Andheri West, Mumbai, on Monday, June 12. The incident was first reported to the police by her neighbours who were alerted by the foul smell emanating from her flat.
