Kerala box office: Mohanlal's Pulimurugan leaves Mammootty's Thoppil Joppan far behind in 12 days at Kochi multiplexes

Looks like the puja releases in Malayalam - Pulimurugan and Thoppil Joppan - are set to continue their successful run at the Kerala box office. Mohanlal's Pulimurugan, which is expected to run for more than 100 days, has been raking in tremendous collection from the worldwide box office after opening to positive response from the audience. 

Pulimurugan review: An action-packed visual treat

Pulimurugan's success run at six multiplexes in Kochi has affected Mammootty's Thoppil Joppan as the action thriller directed by Vysakh is on the top spot with fabulous collection. Pulimurugan is said to have earned a total gross collection of Rs 1.62 crore and is expected to meet the Rs 2 crore mark within three days. The big budget entertainer has a theatre occupancy of 72 per cent earning Rs 10.85 lakh with nine housefull shows from the multiplexes on the 12th day of theatrical run.

Pulimurugan crosses Rs 1.5 crore in 11 days

So far, Pulimurugan has been screened in 307 housefull shows at the multiplexes in the city. However, the average theatre occupancy of the action thriller has seen a dip from more than 90 per cent to 72 per cent on the 12th day due to weekdays and is expected to increase during the weekend.

Thoppil Joppan review: Entertaining if you watch it without expectation

Meanwhile, Mammootty's comedy entertainer, which has also opened to positive reviews, is said to have earned a total of Rs 63.84 lakh within 12 days from the multiplexes in Kochi. The 12th day collection of the Johny Antony directorial amounts to Rs 1.47 lakh after screening for 18 shows with a theatre occupancy of just 25.65 per cent.
