In a horrific incident that unfolded in a small village in northern Poland, a man allowed his siblings to repeatedly rape his wife four years. The man, identified as Mariusz Sz, has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars for the inhumane treatment.

The victim, whose identity has not been revealed, was beaten, starved, raped and forced to eat means that "denied her dignity. Investigators also found that the husband locked the victim in a pitch-dark cold cellar, where she was denied personal hygiene and allowed to be raped for as low as $5 or 20 PLN for over two years of the four years he sexually assaulted her between 2006 and 2010.

Judge Marta Urbanska, in the initial sentencing in last June, said the defendant starved the victim and forced her to eat meals in a kneeling position. The victim was also forced to eat bread mixed with water and the husband's semen.

The victim's face was covered with a bag over her head while she was being raped by random men so their identity remained unknown. The police investigation is ongoing and it is not clear how many men raped the victim during her captivity.

The victim, who has two daughters – one aged about four-years-old who was also reportedly sexually abused – said she feared their safety. Finally, the victim escaped and managed to call her mother and alerted the police. According to local media, the victim was turned away thrice by the police when she tried file a complaint against her husband before the investigation started, the Mirror reported.

It is alleged that the husband's two brothers Andrzej and Marian Sz, and their friend Tadeusz B, were accomplices of the crime. The accused have been nabbed and charged with rape and could face 3-15 years improvement if found guilty post their ongoing trials.

The defendant Mariusz Sz is dubbed as the "Polish Fritzl," after Josef Fritzl of Austria, who was imprisoned for life for holding his daughter captive for 24 years in a basement and repeatedly raping her. The police finally freed the victim, along with seven children, in 2008.

In related news, a 13-year-old girl was raped by a 19-year-old man in Bengaluru. The police have arrested the rapist, identified as Naveen Kumar, and charged him under the POCSO Act and section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.
