One of the greatest all-rounders of the cricketing world, Kapil Dev is all set to represent India again, this time in golf.

The 59-year-old former cricket captain has been selected in the Indian team for 2018 Asia Pacific Seniors golf tournament, which will be held at Tom Watson Golf Club in Miyazaki, Japan from October 17 to 19.

Kapil was selected for the tournament, which will involve golfers above the age of 55, after a string of consistent performances at the recently-concluded All India Senior Tournament, finishing an impressive third in Noida.

The man from Haryana, who led India to its first Cricket World Cup glory in 1983, will be representing his country 24 years after he retired from international cricket.

He has been picked in the three-member Indian contingent, which also has reigning senior national champion Rishi Narain and former champion Amit Luthra.

Kapil: Representing India again is a 'great feeling'

Kapil, who trusts in his ability as a golfer, revealed he is as excited for the upcoming Asia Pacific Seniors as he was when he made his India debut in Quetta in 1978.

Eager to give his best for the country again, Kapil said he became addicted to golf at one point in time and access to Delhi Golf Club helped him mature as a professional in the sport.

"I am happy. Actually, I feel proud because I am going to represent India. It is a great feeling. Not quite different from the time I was picked to tour Pakistan (in 1978) as part of the Indian cricket team," Kapil told Sportstar.

He added: "I loved football when I was still playing cricket but golf became a passion. And then an addiction really. Access to the DGC added to my love for golf."

Kapil reportedly took to golf shortly after hanging his boots from international cricket in 1994. The Indian Cricketer of the Century believes his natural cricketing abilities have helped him in golf as well.

"I know I am a natural athlete and the hand-eye coordination helped me become a good golfer. I had the cricket muscle which was good for golf too," Kapil added.

Known for his tremendous work ethics and never-say-die attitude, it shouldn't be surprising if Kapil once again brings laurels to the country, this time as a golfer.
