BSE closes points 106.77 up on Feb 19

New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 106.77 points up to stand at 20,740.98. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 25.65 points up to stand at6,152.75. Adani Enter and Financial Tech were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 7.04% and 4.99% along with MCX and Gujarat Mineral with an increase of 4.95% and 3.82 % respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Jindal Steel and Tata Communication with a decrease of 2.79 % and 2.73 % along with Indian Bank and Bank of India with a decrease of 2.29% and 2.09% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 7.06 points at 12,168.14 while the banking sector is up 41.65 points at 12,115.87 and the realty sector is up 5.21 points at 1,212.29. The Indian currency is down 0.32% at Rs 62.16 per dollar.

2014 Auto Expo ends with hope for boost in automobile sales

Greater Noida, Feb 12 (ANI): The curtains came down on the 12th edition of Auto Expo in Greater Noida with the hope that positivity around the show will spark a revival in demand after a prolonged slump in sales. Automobile giants resorted to different strategies and tactics in order to lure consumers, offered discount packages to boost sales. Car sales fell to 160,289 vehicles last month, as consumers kept a tight lid on spending, hurt by high interest rates and fuel costs in a slowing economy. Sales of passenger vehicles, which include cars and utility vehicles, fell 9.3 percent in January. The Deputy Director General of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Sugato Sen said the taxes imposed on the automobiles resulted in decline of sales in the passenger car segment.

Car sales fall in January, no respite seen: SIAM

New Delhi /Noida, Feb 12 (ANI): Car sales in India fell 7.6 percent in January, the fourth straight month of decline, according to figures released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), in a market set to fall for the second straight year. Car sales fell to 160,289 vehicles last month, the industry body said, as consumers kept a tight lid on spending, hurt by high interest rates and fuel costs in a slowing economy. Sales have fallen 5.2 percent so far this fiscal year that ends in March. The Deputy Director General of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Sugato Sen, said that the auto industry is hoping that the government may cut factory gate duties when it presents the interim budget while there are no signs of an immediate recovery.

Children sing, dance and participate in hi-tech gaming sessions at Indian Auto Expo

Greater Noida, Feb 10 (ANI): Children sang and danced with their favourite cartoon characters while participating in hi-tech gaming sessions at the Indian Auto Expo in Greater Noida. In order to attract large number of children and families to the event, various activities were organized to keep the visitors entertained. Few children were seen participating in hi-tech video games session while some others were engrossed in modeling toy cars. Japanese auto and bike maker Honda invited Indian animation superstar 'Chota Bheem' and his best friend 'Chutkiat' at their motor cycle and scooter pavilion. Children participating in the games loved the arrangements.
