Cameroon independence protests continue over use of French

Exclusive IBTimesUK Footage from Bamenda, Cameroon, appears to show the continued protests against disenfranchisement and failures to introduce self-determination measures. Security forces are seen firing automatic rifles into the air in an apparent attempt to disperse demonstrators whilst people flee screaming and in panic. Protests started in October, when a group of English-speaking lawyers took to the streets to protest against the use of French in courts and the lack of English versions of some legal acts and codes. One year ago, on 13 November 2015, Paris was hit by a series of terror attacks which claimed the lives of 130 people, injured a further 368. The most devastating attack was at the Bataclan theatre, where 89 people were killed whilst attending a concert by rock band Eagles of Death Metal.Le Monde journalist Daniel Psenny was working at home at the time when he heard what he thought was fireworks. From his balcony, overlooking an alleyway outside the Bataclan, he could see people fleeing in terror from the venue. The video footage he recorded of the incident, particularly of a pregnant woman clinging to the window on the Batalcans second floor, was shown around the world.Psenny himself was later shot when he tried to help a man who had collapsed on the pavement.
