New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Wednesday pledged support to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Delhi Assembly polls on those seats from where it is not contesting the elections, saying the decision is aimed at keeping the BJP and Congress out of power in the national capital. The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 7. The counting of votes will take place on February 10. The last day of campaigning is February 5. At least nine dead after TransAsia airplane crashes into Taipei River

London, Feb 04 (ANI): A Taiwanese TransAsia Airways flight with more than 50 people aboard hit a bridge and crashed into a river near the capital Taipei on Wednesday morning, leaving at least nine people dead. According to media reports, the domestic flight ATR-72, carrying 53 passengers and five crew members, had just taken off from Taipei Songshan Airport and was headed to the outlying Kinmen islands, just off the coast of south-east China. Reportedly, the plane lost contact with flight controllers before it crashed into Keelung River near the city's downtown Sungshan airport. Rescue teams rushed to help survivors of the plane crash. Many passengers were wounded in the mishap. Reports suggest that there are still people trapped inside the plane. Feb 4, 2015

Kashmir Valley remains cut off due to heavy snowfall

Poonch, Feb 04 (ANI): Heavy snowfall continued for the fourth consecutive day in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday (February 04), throwing normal life out of gear. The Srinagar-Jammu highway remained shut as a result hundreds of trucks carrying essential commodities could not reach the godowns and markets. Srinagar-Jammu highway is an arterial road that connects Kashmir to the rest of the country making it a route of extreme importance- both for the state's economy and defence personnel. Another important link, Mughal Road, which connects Poonch and Rajouri districts with Shopian in the valley, was also shut down due to thick snow. AAP's alleged donor files defamation case against AWAM for wrong allegations

New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): AAP's alleged donor for money which is being called as 'hawal' money by opposition parties, Jaskeerat Mann Kaur, on Wednesday rebuked AWAM for spreading wrong information among media. Kaur said that a defamation case has been filed against AWAM members and challenged them to produce a proof for their allegations. She even said that AAP has nothing to do with any mishandling regarding bank transactions. India-Bhutan friendship car rally kicks off in Siliguri

Siliguri, Feb 04 (ANI): The three-day long Indo-Bhutan car rally covering Himalayan ranges kicked off on Wednesday (February 04) from Siliguri town in West Bengal. The rally has been organized by Friendship Car Rally Association of India and Bhutan Friendship Association to strengthen relations between the two neighbours. The car rally, which is being held after two years gap, would cover a distance of 850 kilometers and would culminate in Bhutan's capital, Thimphu. Twenty participants from India and ten from Bhutan are taking part in this mega event. The extremely challenging route of pristine foothills and forests crisscrossed by rivers and mountain streams and high Himalayan passes of altitude of up to 13000 feet make the drive thoroughly adventurous. Woman gangraped in Mumbai, three accused arrested

Mumbai, Feb 04 (ANI): A 21-year-old woman was gangraped in Mumbai, on the intervening night of Tuesday (February 03) and Wednesday (February 04), said police. All the three accused were arrested from the crime scene itself. The victim was on her way home when the culprits befriended her at the Reay Road railway station. The four boarded a local train together as the accused promised to drop her home safe. However, as they de-boarded the train at Cotton Green station, the accused threatened the victim and took her to a truck parking nearby, where they took turns to rape her. A police party which was patrolling in the area rushed to rescue the victim hearing her cries and arrested the three accused from the spot. The accused reportedly work at a goldsmith workshop, while the victim is a slum dweller. A medical examination of the victim confirmed rape. Feb 4, 2015
