Antony orders CBI probe in HAL deal case, draws reaction

New Delhi, March 03 (ANI): After Defence Minister AK Antony ordered a CBI probe into allegations of bribery into HAL- Rolls Royce company deal, politicos draw flak over the continuous scam taking place in defence sector while others welcomed steps taken by Antony. BJP leader Balbir Punj termed it as a showcase of incompetency of the UPA government. Meanwhile, Congress leader PC Chacko and Former JD (U) Leader Shivanand Tiwari looked at the other side of the coin and appreciated Antony’s decision of CBI probe.

86th annual Academy Awards commence with stars glittering at red carpet

PDP slams Farooqs 'Kashmiris are thieves' remark

Politicians welcome cabinets decision to grant reservation for Jat community

New Delhi, March 03 (ANI): Politicians welcomed cabinet’s decision to grant reservation to Jat community, which had been a longstanding demand of the farming community. The cabinet ministers approved reservation of seats for the Jat community, providing them an opportunity to get reserved seats in educational institutions and government job openings. Politicos struggling for the reservation for the Jat community welcomed the decision and expressed gratitude. Supporters mark Aafia Siddiquis birthday in Pakistan

Karachi, March 03 (ANI): About two dozen supporters of a Pakistani neuroscientist, Aafia Siddiqui, currently in US prison after being convicted of shooting at FBI agents and soldiers, gathered to mark her birthday in Karachi city of Pakistan. Carrying flowers and placards, supporters of Siddiqui stood behind bars representing a prison during the celebration to mark Siddiqui's 41st birthday. Aafia Siddiqui, whose conviction was widely criticised in Pakistan, was sentenced by a US judge in September 2010 to 86 years in prison after she was convicted of shooting at FBI agents and soldiers following her arrest in Afghanistan.

AP Governor ESL Narasimhan to hold charge during Presidents rule in state

Hyderabad, March 03 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan said that the state which has now come under the President’s rule may be supervised by him as per the direction of President Pranab Mukherjee. He said the President has taken charge of the state with the intention of creating a congenial and conducive atmosphere for stable administration. The central government had recommended the imposition of President’s rule in Andhra Pradesh on Friday. On Saturday, Pranab Mukherjee gave his assent to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2014 and also approved cabinet’s recommendation. Andhra Pradesh came under the control of President following the resignation of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy earlier in February, protesting the bifurcation of the state.

Bangladesh mulling to bring Pak war criminals under trial: Prosecutor

Dhaka, March 03 (ANI): A top prosecutor of Bangladesh, Syed HAider Ali, on Sunday said he was examining papers and documents to bring Pakistani soldiers, accused of committing genocide during the 1971 liberation war who were released under 1972 Shimla Agreement, under trial in the country. Bangladesh law minister Shafique Ahmed hinted that 195 war criminals, who were handed over to Pakistan under Shimla Agreement be brought to justice. Ali said that the government would approach the foreign countries and investigating agencies. He also admitted that war criminals trial had slowed down due to some technical hitch.
