Wonder Woman is due to release this weekend and all eyes are set on Gal Gadot. The female superhero returns to the big screen after being introduced in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice last year.

The summer release was previewed a few days ago and the movie received great reviews from critics. Before film critics could share their full-length reviews, they took to Twitter to rave about the film and went on to call it the best DCEU movie.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman goes back into time to share the story of where it all began. The film features Israeli beauty Gadot along with Chris Pines who plays the role of her love, Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as Antiope and David Thewlis dons the villain's cap, Ares.

The initial Twitter reactions from those lucky few who watched Wonder Woman have got fans curious to know the factors that made the female superhero a huge hit among critics.

The positive responses have also ignited a sort of cheer among fans after Warner Bros/DC disappointed them with a bad presentation of Batman v Superman. So, what did the critics enjoy among Wonder Woman and what are their final verdicts? Here's a review roundup of Wonder Woman:

The Hollywood Reporter felt that Wonder Woman is a much-needed hero. "If Diana of Themyscira is a much-needed hero for our times, it's not because of her special-effects-laden fight moves. It's because of such offhand moments as the way she infiltrates a bad guy's soiree. Done up in one of those constricting frocks she doesn't understand, she nonetheless strides into the room with the focus of a warrior and the gait of a free woman. She's dressed for the part, but she's no fool for fashion," Sheri Linden writes for the website.

Variety wrote that director Jenkins doesn't hold back from showing Diana as an agent of power. "It may have taken four films to get there, but the DC Extended Universe has finally produced a good old-fashioned superhero," shares Andrew Barker, seemingly sounding like he let out a sigh of relief.

He went on to says, "As skimpy as Gadot's outfits may get, for example, Jenkins' camera never leers or lingers gratuitously — Diana is always framed as an agent of power, rather than its object. When she finally unleashes her full fighting potential in an extended battle sequence on the front lines, the movie comes alive in a genuinely exhilarating whirl of slow-motion mayhem, and Diana's personality is never lost amid all the choreography."

USA Today gave 31/2 stars to Wonder Woman and called it the best DC movie put against Marvel. "Wonder Woman is the best movie Marvel rival DC Comics has put out in its own cinematic universe, and unlike the recent parade of bleak superhero tales from both studios, it makes you feel good while you watch it. It's a female superhero film — which is revolutionary enough by itself — but it's also a genuinely surprising film that plays with genre and throws out the now very tired superhero movie formula," Kelly Lawler explained.

Entertainment Weekly suggested that Jenkin's film movie was in the top tier of DC superhero movies, including Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy. "Wonder Woman is smart, slick, and satisfying in all of the ways superhero films ought to be. How deliciously ironic that in a genre where the boys seem to have all the fun, a female hero and a female director are the ones to show the fellas how it's done," Chris Nashawaty wrote in his EW review. "The wait is over folks. The DC movie you've been waiting for has finally arrived," he concluded.

While most reviewers have applauded the female duo – Gadot and Jenkins – a few did not appreciate it as much. The Guardian's Steve Rose seems to have not enjoyed the new DCEU movie as he gave the movie a diminutive rating of two stars and wrote: "Diana has been reduced to a weaponised Smurfette. The film feels obliged to give Pine his own equally heroic story arc. What promised to be a glass-ceiling-smashing blockbuster actually looks more like a future camp classic."

Considering all the reviews, should you watch the movies? Hell, yeah!
